Summary

Earth is locked in a dangerous arms race with Rigel.

McGill’s efforts at diplomacy are disastrous. Events spin out of control and interstellar warfare consumes the outer provinces of the Empire. Great fleets are gathered, and troops are hurried aboard transports. Legion Varus is launched toward a secret target world.

McGill leads an early strike against Rigel’s defenses, but his efforts are foiled at every turn. Who could be behind these betrayals? Could his own government be plotting his demise?

Find out in Sky World, the thrilling eighteenth book in the Undying Mercenaries series.

Refreshing and very addictive

As series of books can get a little stagnant, this book came in guns blazing and back to the good old days.

Love the series, narrator and author.

My enthusiasm for this series is unprecedented.
Although there were multiple legendary scenes throughout this episode that placated my addiction. I am comforted by the inevitability of another sequel. Previous episodes have never ended on such a ‘Cliff-hanger’. I hope that this is not a precursor to the end.
Regardless of the potential conclusion of this epic series. After 18 riveting episodes I can testify that V.B. Larson is an author “meaner than Cat Dirt”.

Back to their best, fast, fun and not too serious

These books have always been something of a guilty pleasure. I don't admit to reading them but secretly look forward to the next one.
A bit of a dull one a few books ago left me wondering if things had got a bit stale, but firmly back to their light hearted best with this one.
This is also Boyett at his best - I don't know if Larson has tailored his style to better suit Boyetts reading but having listened to him read a few different authors, this series always seems a bit more enthusiastic.
Highbrow this is not, but light-hearted fast paced fun it certainly is.

Excellent

I enjoyed this book a lot more than the previous one. Intrigue, action and funny moments.

Now looking forward to Jungle World.

One of the best yet

Loved this, one of the best yet, so much impactful character development in this one and it really kept me guessing what would be next. No filler here, setting up some great future arcs. This series is his best I hope we get more soon.

The best series in years.

A great lead character written and narrated perfectly.
James could be flipping burgers in a restaurant and it feels like it would still prove entertaining.
Interwoven with a relationship that would be doomed for normal people but suits these two perfectly.
There are weak and strong stories in the series but none are a disappointment. Heartily recommended.

Moving towards end game?

Another fantastic production and narration! The story seems to be moving towards some sort of end game progression. The sky world campaign itself was not that great, but overall I enjoyed the story.
