About this listen

He's back. He's bitter. And he's better than before. Helped by the enigmatic Arthur, Simon has escaped torture, but the Green Hood's underlings are hot on his heels. He believes they are safe for now—or so they thought.

Regrouping on a secluded Scottish island with his wife and friend, Simon and the others train for a fight they know will be bigger than they've ever faced.

Still confused by his new superhero abilities, Simon tests his wits and strength to uncover the full extent of his heroic powers.

When he discovers the true identity of the Green Hood, the ensuing chaos drags them back into the fray.

Cue the intense, epic battle between Simon and the Green Hood.

In this powerful follow-up to Simon: Not Your Average Superhero, Lucas W Mayberry delivers once again the valiant superhero origin story.

Great continuation of the story of Simon & his super powers.
I agree with other reviews - too much emphasis on the martial arts training. Could have easily just been 1 chapter.
I am definitely looking forward to the sequel to see what happens to Simon!

Not as good as the 1st

Having read the physical book a while ago, and in preparation for the next Book I picked this up to listen to on my lengthy dog walks. And the story improved those tenfold! Loved the narrators enthusiasm for the story, love the story itself as Simon and Vasia develop their skills. And the supervillains are a cut above; particularly liked the battle at the Emirates stadium. Great job overall, and recommended for anyone who loves Superhero escapism.

I didn't enjoy this second book quite as much as the first, too much emphasis on the martial arts training and I get bored and frustrated with books that have an ongoing, indestructible enemy who always seems to get the upper hand. I prefer new adversaries rather than the same in each book but that's just me. Great performance by the narrator and a well written book.

I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and am voluntarily writing an honest and unbiased review.

This book is not for the faint of heart: it has lots of action, adventures, and fighting. The story is imaginative and entertaining and Simon is a unique Superhero. I liked Steve Field’s narration.

A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.

Whereas the first book was written mainly in the second person narrative, this second in the series is written from a third person perspective, giving a broader picture of the world and the plethora of characters. Picking up immediately from the end of book one we start with our hero learning how to use his superhero abilities on a remote Scottish island, and are given some great background information about a variety of martial arts that I found interesting and enjoyable. Then our hero is forced to get back to real life and the explosive action begins. This book is just as fun, quirky, sexy and exciting as the first, though in a completely different way. I listened to the audio version of this book.
