Summary

Andie Marks, known as "Party Girl" in her college days, is now a whip-smart lawyer on the fast track to success. Determined to move on from a bad break-up, she joins her girlfriends for a wild bachelorette weekend in Las Vegas, promising to let her hair down just this once.

Vegas is a blur of cocktails and blackjack, and in the middle of it all she meets Mack, a real-life cowboy with a winning hand and an irresistible body. They get lucky in the casino and luckier back at the hotel, a hot night of passion that was definitely not part of Andie's life plan.

By dawn Mack is gone and all she has to remember their one-night romance is a hangover and a pile of casino chips. Or so she thinks....

Thanks...

I appreciate getting an audiobook through Kindle Unlimited without having to pay extra as I only listen to audiobooks occasionally when out for a walk. This was easy listening and exactly what you would expect from a romance.

I didn't buy it.

It wasn't awful. It was about 4 hours longer than it needed to be, most of that consumed by our heroine's dithering. I liked our hero fine. His speech in the epilogue almost makes up for everything I didn't like in the book...almost.

The author tells us the heroine is a smart, ruthless, confident lawyer, but she spends most of the book in insipid bimbo mode. Her back story made me want to care about her. Her behavior made me roll my eyes and want to slap someone.

Creditworthy? Not for me. Will I check out the next book? Maybe. The parts that made me laugh had me thinking, "More like this!" So, maybe.

I don't know why so many people liked this book. I was ready to throw it out of the window several times and debated about finishing the thing. FAIL

Loved it!

I absolutely enjoyed this story. The performance kept my attention through the entire reading from beginning to end, non-stop. I found myself misty eyed and laughing out loud several times. I appreciate a story that can grab my emotions and keep me hanging on to the end.

DNF at 55%

This is the second book I was unable to finish from Elle which means that I am not her target audience. The author relies on a bit of slapstick comedy with klutzy h's that are self-absorbed and neurotic. Her past is the only reason that I got to 50% but they never really covered that beyond the first few minutes of what I read. I am sure it was addressed in the second half but I just couldn't care enough to continue reading.

Our h wants to live her life to meet what she laid out and gets frustrated when something gets in the way. She is very self-absorbed and doesn't listen to anyone else.

I do like how the author builds her world but would rather read about characters that don't act like they are 16-18.

Disappointing and frustrating.

The overall concept was interesting. There were moments that made sense and were plausible. However, the biggest issue throughout the entire book was the juvenile behaviors and conversations of a supposedly accomplished lawyer. It was head-shakingly unbelievably bad writing. To swallow this story you must accept a person with the mouth and maturity of a 14 year old is actually a twenty something partner in a law firm and a successful litigator. It was frustrating and we had to fast forward much of the book to get past the lawyer’s ridiculous head conversations and actions.

It was ok!

I wanted to love this book. I found Andie blah i just did not care for her at all. The story had a weird time jump that i did not care for. Lauren Ezzo did an ok job, I kinda felt that she was always frustrated.

Mixed Feelings

I borrowed the audio book on Kindle Unlimited. The narrator was great! I have no complaints and will definitely listen to more books done by Lauren Ezzo.

I really wanted to love this book and I did like it...I just couldn't love it. The only thing holding me back was the heroine. She had an abusive stepfather and she fought really hard to take back her life and create a life plan so she would never go back to that. Except every guy she choose as the perfect man were taking her right back. It made NO sense and quite frankly made her look very stupid. I get the pushing away if you were treated bad, but to actually go after men who treated her badly? It just didn't fit.

As big as that issue is with me, I really did love everything else about the book. The hero was awesome. His family was awesome. I actually will check out book two because it is about the hero's brother. Fingers crossed book two will be a winner.
