A mysterious note.

A simple job gone wrong.

Will the tragic turn end a librarian’s life?

When paranormal librarian Reed Moore received a strange note hinting at a problem within the world’s supernatural library network, she’s concerned.

And when a routine asset retrieval goes wrong, she’s not only frightened for her life, but convinced something nefarious is pervading every library in the world.

Tracking down the thief will take all her wits and threatens to rob her of everything.

With a ticking clock and threats from all sides, will Reed track down the culprit or will this be her last investigation?

Shadow Origins is the spell-binding prequel novella in the Shelving Magic series.

I love the story and world this prequel is starting to build. As this is a prequel and I have not listened to the rest of the series, I am going to assume more details and facts about the world are missing due to the belief that you would learn it from the main storyline? All in all I enjoyed it.

Spoilers Here
I did struggle with some things though. it seems to me like this is a reflection of our world with fantasy incorporated in. So getting up and leaving a hospital the same day you wake up after 6 months in a coma, is a bit farfetched. I was willing to give though for the sake of story. Then however, the delivery of a prem baby in the car and going home then getting on a flight? I know people can bounce back from things and this is just a story but there needs to be some acknowledgements and timelines for recovery. it felt rushed and ignored a lot of detail there.

Still loved and will be listening more and hope my practical brain doesn't ruin this lovely series for me.

A good Opening
