About this listen

From the ashes of the ancients, a cataclysmic new threat rises.

Born on a forsaken desert planet, Cole Shaw has two options - perish from starvation and disease, or enlist in the New World Republic’s armed forces. He chooses the military. For the first time, he thinks he has a shot at a better life. But survival is not guaranteed.

Leading an elite team of mech operators, he is deployed to a frozen planet called Ferrous where dangerous relics of a past war lurk beneath the ice and savage creatures prowl the barren wastelands. Scientists on Ferrous are chasing rumors of godlike technologies buried in the ruins of a long-extinct civilization. When Shaw and his team are assigned to protect the researchers, they face an unexpected, merciless new enemy desperate to stop them.

An ancient secret has been awakened on Ferrous. The deadly race to claim this terrifying power has only just begun.

Performed by Audie, Earphones, and SOVAS Award-winning R.C. Bray (Expeditionary Force, Galaxy's Edge, Hell Divers), Sentinel is a must-listen for all military sci-fi fans in search of their next great series.

I've been looking for a good book to get into and I'm so glad I got into this one, well written and narrated. Think the best part for me is the overall discovery of how using a sentinel work and its detailed description. Start book two right away.

loved it.

Deadmens war is an adventure/treasure hunt story in space with giant monsters and robots. What makes this series work is its characters that get fleshed out and grow over the series. All that growth is wrapped up in vibrant, diverse and fantastically creative world building, capped off by ancient mystery uncover. If you pick up book one you won't be able to stop yourself till you finish the series.

Whis is this story not made live action yet?

PHENOMENAL

A fast paced adventure with mechs and monsters and hostile planets in the middle of an inter stellar cold war about to go hot. Written in the first person perspective of Sergeant Cole Shaw, leader of Team Banshee, we are quickly introduce to hostile worlds, ancient alien technology, agressive giant monsters, enemy forces and more. The action is relentless, just pausing long enough to build the back story and open up the universe to us before plunging right back in to the fight.

The characters are largely likable, with some having more depth than others, and there is deffinately potential for growth there, though I found the main character to be whiny and demanding at times (which is why overall I had to give it 4 not 5 stars), and i'm never a fan of flash backs but its how you build a characters story these days it seems.

The story is intriguing, addictive even, and when the book ends, you NEED more.

Read by the legendary RC Bray. I don't really need to say anything else about that do I? Oh ok then, I will. If you've not come across him befoer, RC Bray is a superb Narrator who brings the story and characters to life seemingly effortlessly (though i've heard his outtakes - its not effortlessly at all) and for narrating fast paced action, there is no one better.

And... Action!
