#3 is a grand slam not a strike out!
This series just keeps on getting better and better! I've been with Brooks since he released the first one and have not been disappointed yet. The story just keeps on getting bigger and better. Chod our big blue magic wielding troll is running with the big dogs, the king's and leaders of the island he was put on in the game. And they need to get ready for the big bad that the good guys had to shut down all the travel portals because of. He's trying to get all the other heroes/prisoners on his side but they aren't in this situation because they are good guys. Rowland and Martin get all the stars for this newest installment in the Sentenced to Troll story! If you like fantasy and love LitRPG you need to get this in your library!

Worth the investment
Really enjoyed this story for the most part. One of the better offerings in this genre. Having a consistent narrator, with good vocal range, over the course of the three books really helps with character development and consistency, which I appreciate greatly. Overall, if you enjoy this genre, I would definitely recommend trying this series.

Portals of Doom
The portals have awakened. No one saw to which exit portal Glen and Jude went to. The Dwarves are sending people through to all destinations that are able to receive people. The heroes are going through to try and find allies and people who will fight on the side of good or at least not evil. Glen and Jude have a four hour head start. We have information from the archives, but the portals have been closed for so long, is it still accurate? The stakes are rising, with most portals open, how long before the ancient evil returns. If you are wondering why Chod is still in game, it’s because when he tried to leave the AI started freaking out thinking an essential piece of the program went missing so he had to go back in to save his friends.

Decent book
Full disclosure: I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. In this book, Chod's adventures continue and he is essentially given a quest to grow stronger and gather allies to prepare for the confrontation with the big bad guy. He does make some friends along the way. It is entertaining to listen to Chod go on his adventure. However, there are two points that detract from the book. The first and larger point, some characters are allowed to do whatever they want. Including be figurative trolls and destroy the progress of others. Now everyone in the game are criminals being rehabilitated. This just seems counter intuitive to me for the AI running the game to allow for convicts being rehabilitated to indulge in destruction, killing, and negative behavior. When asked about this exact situation, the response is that the AI knows what its doing so don't question it. This just seems like a silly plot point, especially when all the players are in one location. This can lead to confrontation and other negative outcomes. The second point is the abilities and lack of a skill tree. Chod has a berserker rage ability that he activates, but doesn't have a negative effect in this book. The name does indicate it should be more uncontrollable. When players level up, they are given 1 skill point to advance/obtain one of 3 different skills. Which would fit in line with games. However, there is no skill tree or mention of one. How do you know what skills unlock others? How do you know to branch out or specialize in one skill or set of skills? Is it better to be a Jack-of-all trades and specialize in nothing and have skills for different situations or focus on one or two skills and become extremely powerful in those skills? As there is a limited set of skill points and it gets harder and harder to level, building the right skillset becomes more and more important. A progression goal could add more to the story. Another small nitpick, why is it allowed for higher levels to bully lower levels? Especially in this game setting where its impossible for a low level to beat a higher level player and rehabilitation as the backdrop focus. The narrator did a good job with the character voices and made distinguishing the voices easier.
