My job, when you think about it, isn’t so different from a lot of people’s.

The more old-fashioned crowd do still get hung up on the "killing people" part of it, I guess, but that’s a them problem: it’s been perfectly legal to take out lifers for ages. So, sure, I have to deal with a ton of boring planning. Inconvenient hours. Some pretty awkward face-to-face interactions. And like most of us, I’m really only clocking in to try to crawl out from beneath my debts. But someone’s got to do it.

Luckily, my genetic compatibilities make me really, really good at doing it.

Still. This next job . . . I don’t know. It’s something I haven’t had to deal with in years. Kind of the opposite of my regular duties. Strange, that it got thrown my way.

I’m sure it’ll all go totally fine though.

This was such an enjoyable book, with a fun storyline that I felt was fairly well covered given the short length of Scion compared to his previous books.
I hope we get more of Azure!

I thought the story was good, overall I enjoyed it for sure, it got better as it went which is great

it was a bit short, felt like it was sorta unfinished, stopped too early, and since it was short it felt too early not just that sorta cliff hanger for the next (if there's a next)

This is some of Islington's best, especially considering it is a departure from his fantasy writing. It has all the tell tale talent that Islington has honed over the years in the form of mind bending twists and wild concepts but this time in the flavour of a techno future. I love the humour and jovial nature of the writing yet it maintains the tension and seriousness of the situation.

The performance for the audio is also outstanding, line delivery and pacing is incredible, perfect for the protagonist and the world it is set in.

Overall I only have one critique and that is that there is not enough of it! I want more.

Really nice and snappy quick listen this one! Have loved everything the author has released so far and this was no exception - really hope he keeps this series going as he could probably churn these out quite quickly between his larger titles. Great turn from the narrator too
