Summary
The name on the covers was Bachman. But the imagination could only belong to one man: Stephen King.
'Thinner' - the old gypsy man barely whispers the word. Billy feels the touch of a withered hand on his cheek.
Billy Halleck, prosperous if overweight citizen, happily married, shuddered then turned angrily away. The old woman's death had been none of his fault. The courts had cleared him. She'd just stumbled in front of his car. Now he simply wanted to forget the whole messy business.
Later, when the scales told him he was losing weight, it was what the doctor ordered. His wife was pleased - as she should have been. But....
'Thinner' - the word, the old man's curse, has lodged in Billy's mind like a fattening worm, eating at his flesh, at his reason. And with his despair, comes violence.

Intriguing
Sometimes Stephen King stories are overly descriptive which can make them difficult to follow.
I loved this. The tale was so straightforward - somebody did something wrong and revenge was taken.
Joe Mantegna is a great narrator but I couldn't get Fat Tony out of my head.

Great narrator
I love the narration of this book and the story but the music is absolutely ridiculous, not needed and frankly exceptionally irritating!

Very good
King ( Bachman ) at his best for me, complimented by great narration.
Definitely one of my favourites.

It's not meant to be a musical.
Narration was great, gravelly mobster. The story itself... also great. But why the cheesy music?

Awful musical interludes!
Why do you do this? Please just use spoken word in audio books! I get really into the story and then suddenly there is a jarring discordant musical interlude between chapters. Just read the book please. It’s not a drama presentation.

Joe Mantegna is fabulous
Great rendition of the book.
The only criticism I have is of the grating irritating music that was so jarring it really almost ruined an awesome narration by Joe Mantegna

A dark, suspenseful tale, with one downfall...
'Thinner' is a story of revenge, skilfully woven by master horror-author Stephen King. The narrator gives an excellent performance, bringing the characters to life with believable voices, and copes well with King's sometimes
(convoluted)
elaborate textual format.
The only sour taste in this otherwise appetising feast is the unnecessary inclusion of twanging guitar music, which heralds breaks in chapters and sometimes obscures the narrator's voice. It does nothing to enhance the story, instead hindering the pacing and mood.
I still recommend the book, but wish there was some way to cut out the music.

Thinner
I love this story I’ve read it at least twice and seen the film but Joe Mantegna really brings it to life, he was perfect for the narration, I just love his Italian American accent

Great reading of a great novel
Absolutely love this novel and wanted something to listen to while dogwalking to thought I would give it a try and I'm glad I did! Beautifully told, I was sucked into the story easily and the little sound effects to mark the ending of chapters wasn't immersion breaking
