Publisher's Summary

What's it like to be the last Human?

And not even know you're Human?

Esna Donovan was stranded on a planet full of people that didn't look like her as a child along with her brother. Their father was murdered, leaving them sitting in their spaceship waiting for his return.

They remember almost nothing from before that time, when two Calavari who were business associates of their father took them in and told them they could never be seen outside their full body armor. They've honored their father's dying wish, living and working on the Calavari's farm while exploring the barren wastelands looking for bits of technological salvage from the time before the great cataclysm.

They don't know they're Human, just that they're different and they can't show their skin in pubic. The two siblings have lived almost their entire lives in their self-styled body armor and dream of leaving the farm and doing something that mattered...but there's nowhere to go. Nothing to do.

Then one day that all changes and Esna is set forth on a rollercoaster ride of a life she could never have expected when the word "Human" is once again spoken on the planet...only it's a word of rage and ear, with the local aliens trying to kill whoever it is applied to, though they've never seen one before.

Regardless, the word is tagged to her and she must run...with a little help.

"Looking forward to the next book."

I actually liked the plot. There is not much happening except for Esna trying to escape with the help of someone else. We get to find out about the other alien species, who the enemy is, the history of the planet they are on and of the history of the person helping Esna.

I hear you ask why did I give it three stars if I liked it and looking forward to the next book? Well there are two scenes were the Alien that is helping Esna escape is a vegetarian/vegan. Now there is nothing wrong with that but when he start lecturing Esna of being a killer because she eats meat and telling her that he kills others who sell and eat meat, I found that a bit harsh. I let it go, but later on in the book Esna gets the same lecture and she is made to feel like a murderer. He says just because they don't speak doesn't mean that they don't feel. Well plants don't speak and they do feel. A research is done to show this. So this makes him a murderer too. I felt this was narrow minded and naive of the alien to think this. I mean you are telling me that all aliens who are allys in the galaxies are vegetarian! I believe that is wishful thinking. I hated how they made Esna into a murderer becuase she ate meat. They changed her perspective to suit there own belief and everyone else is a murderer if they did not listen and kept on doing what they did! What! I am sorry but that is unrealistic! I can imagine a species being vegan/vegetarian but not all species are the same.

Other then this it was a good book. I liked the narrator andI thought the characters were distinguishable.

"Great setting, great story, great action!!"

Firstly I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to the second, in fact 2/3rd of the way through I went looking for the next instalment only to find that it is book 33!!!! Do not be put off by that though as this appears to be a spin off, I am completely new to the universe and had no idea.

The narrator was great with distinctive voices to help identify characters and handling voices of both sexes with ease.

I was given this copy free to provide a non-bias review but I have already added this to my amazon wishlist waiting for the next audiobook instalment.

"A good start to an interesting Sci-fi"

Aliens, action and adventure, what more do you need?

Good narration combines with good writing to keep you invested and wanting to know what happens next in the story. One of the foundations of the story the relationship between Esna and the help she finds is interesting and well written. The main characters are all well written and have good dialogue add to that the different voice for each character and species all with real emotion and inflexion adds to sense the setting is real.
I did not notice any errors in the audio.

This book is a good introduction to the setting as our viewpoint character has little knowledge about what is going on so we get to learn as they do. I am interested to find out more about this setting and the other stories in it. I am very much looking forward to the continuation of Esna ‘s story. Whenever Wayward Trilogy, Book 2 comes out.

I feel this could make a good film, TV show or game.

All and all an interesting taster of a series of books if this is anything to go by will be worth a listen.

"Book made long to turn it into sequel."

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author / narrator / publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

The premise is really really awesome. Last humans living among other species who wants to finish the job of wiping out humans...!!? Hell, yeah. Tell me more. And the author did. In long winding chapters. There's just too much unnecessary detail and "character building". For most of the book, the hero of the story is running and running and running. A large chunk of it could've been edited out, turning the book much crispier and enjoyable. The world building is great and the characters are solid. But there's just too much detail.

And the vegetarian vs meat eater debate in it sounded soooo preachy.

fwiw, if you do manage to ignore the length of the book and like the story, you would want to check out book 2, as the story will continue there.

"Space vegetarians take on the galaxy"

Ok, I will admit that this book is entertaining. It starts off with an interesting premise and did the "nearly unbillable monster hunting you" thing better than a lot of other books have managed. And the second half of the book was solid too. But it dose have its flaws, which I will be a bit vague about if you don't mind as not to spoil anything. Some events happen a bit too soon to get as much of a payoff as I think could have been achieved if simply pushed further for a few chapters. Also Star Force itself in this book I'm guessing is supposed to be a great and noble good guy space force lead by humans......humans that are militantly vegetarian, only work because they enjoy it and are mostly not paid for any work they do, and apparently are now immortal due to diet and exercise........I know there is a level of suspension of disbelief in Sci-Fi but this really pushed it for me and came off as super preachy. Maybe I'm just jaded seeing as how I didn't even lift a brow at hulking four armed aliens, but utopian immortal vegetarian humans was what made me start questioning things. Aside from that though I did enjoy the book. Not sure ill get the second book, but maybe if its on discount.

I got this book in return for a fair and honest review.

    "Great start to a series"

Definitley worth your time and credit!

Great start to a series. I was really looking forward to this book and was not disappointed at all. It's a very enjoyable, engaging and entertaining story with fantastic narration. It's a really good solid story with an interesting cast of characters. It pulled me in from the start and never let go. This is one of those books that I couldn't wait to get back to any time I had to stop listening. Before the story was even over I was looking to see if the next book in the series was available on Audible.

Interesting, original and unusual scenario. What happens when you are human and living on a planet where humans are despised. Worse you don't even know you are human. What happens when you are discovered?

I'm looking forward to the rest of this series.

Kristen James did a fantastic job with the narration. Her narration pulled me right into the story. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. Great character voices. Both male and female. She was able to convey the emotions of the characters. She was able to bring the characters, their emotions and the story to life. Hopefully she will be narrating the rest of the series. Very enjoyable

"The war for humanity’s future is here and gone"

A lone planet, a roving ship with a father and his two children. He suffers a tragic injury and his two children are orphaned and left in the care of an alien friend with a simple warning....don’t ever let them be seen out of armor...why? They are the only humans left, on this planet? In this galaxy? The universe? Years pass, tragedy strikes, new allies are found, the word human takes on a new meaning, Star Force is revealed as the human led faction that has since been decimated, a millennia spanning war, the fountain of youth, great battles, great tragedies and more are revealed. One hell of a great story well narrated and with some new and great twists I haven’t seen before. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

    "It was fun"

“I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author." Through AudiobookBoom

The story was interesting and I had fun listening to it, the only major problem I found was with the narrators handling of all those questions Esna had one after another after another, they sounded very similarly and it got on my nerves. But that just might be me.

"Great start of a new sci fi series"

Although a little...preachy and dry... this is a great sci fi book. It's definitely the first book in a series, what with all the world building going on. The narrator is great too and helps bring the book to life. Looking forward to book 2

"Good story but a little rough."

I went from hating the prolog to warming up to the book after the first chapters to thinking i should buy the next book by the end. The planet and world remind me of Arizona. Dusty, hot, and dry with some caves. As the book progresses you get into some more interesting things like armor and advanced weapons. Then things get really interesting with superpowers. If you can make it though some rough editing the voice actor is good and the story is entertaining enough.

"Review “Star Force: Lost Destiny: Wayward Bk 1"

This was a great book by Aer-ki Jyr. I liked the underlying teaching that was being given to the heroine by her rescuers. There was intrigue and action that kept the pace active and interesting. The performance by Kristin James gives us the feeling of each character and enjoyable to listen too, wonderful as always. I look forward to listening to the next in the series. I received this book in exchange for my review, and if you are wondering, “ yes I would purchase it, it’s that good”.

    "It exceed my expectations"

Instead of following the cookie cutter mold, Lost Destiny breaks away from the norm. The many different species introduced is refreshing, although there was a bit of Vegan propaganda I will admit made me laugh. there is also some pulling on your heart string to go with the brevity, I will look forward to hearing the other two books I hope Kristin James does those too, I don't think I could disassociate her voice from that world.
Now I also have to mention I received this copy in exchange for an unbiased review, and that is what you have.
