Summary
The team of heroes extracted from their timelines to stop the impending apocalypse didn't think they needed a leader.
But they've got one anyway.
With their mission in tatters, Miri has been called in to steady the ship. And to focus them on their assignment: preventing the end of the world.
The problem is, the world doesn't know it's in danger. With governments pursuing them relentlessly, attempting to steal the time-travel device to use for their own ends, the heroes are on the run - fighting for survival in a world they're supposed to save.
Meanwhile, Miri has motives of her own. And when the existence of a second device is discovered, the team's mission and their lives are in mortal danger....

Unputdownable - an absolute must listen
If you could sum up Executed in three words, what would they be?
Thrilling, absorbing rollercoaster, with an ending that does not disappoint - even better than the first in the series. Most audiobooks have periods in which I lose concentration / drift for a bit before the action resumes - not this book, I was hooked from start to finish - and I defy anyone to guess the ending.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Loved them all - rarely for a book there are 4 equally strong, appealing lead characters but if I had to choose I have a huge girl crush on Saffi - a great mix of stroppiness and vulnerability, with raw honesty thrown in.
Which character – as performed by Carl Prekopp – was your favourite?
Carl's narration is superb and does this excellent story justice. They are all believable, But Ben Ryder is particularly appelaing as voiced by the narrator. But then I also loved Harry, Emily, Ben and Miri.. Even Roland was flawed but convincing.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Absolutely yes! I resented the time spent away from it then was so sorry to finish it quickly. Prepare to put your life on hold for a while - if you start you will not want to stop.
Any additional comments?
This series would make a great introduction to audiobooks for those new to the genre. The narrator has perfect comic timing, great vocal pace and extraordinarily clear characterisation.

Executed to Perfection!
Bravo RR Haywood! I wasn't really taken with the start of his Zombie series, The Undead, but here he has produced a tightly wrapped present for his readers. Not worried about making a more lucrative trilogy he has finished off the story that promised so much in Extracted in just one further volume. A very neat one-two.
Time travel always opens up plot holes and if you're hoping for the book that somehow avoids them this isn't really it. What it does do extremely successfully is bring together some very clever plotlines in what for the genre is a very consistent and cleverly imagintive way.
The narration is also key to the enjoyment and Carl Prekopp brings Haywood's odd assortment of heroes together and reflects their chemistry with real aplomb. A lot of rationale for enjoying this book is the chemistry between the characters and Prekopp gives those reactions life.
So, an excellent two book series and I think a lot of us will be following this author to see what he comes up with next. And maybe I need to swallow my pride and give The Undead another try!

Time wasting and disappointing
After a good first book, this sequel draws out trivia to the point of tedium. The writing is confused, lacks direction and the excellent original plot has vanished, leaving a confused and irritating mess.

Fast, Fun and Fantastic!
This is a great series so far. It's witty banter and cool characters make up the spine of this very clever and fast paced time travel series.
The action is non stop but the wonderful relationships and dialogue between the protagonists is what makes these books so very special for me. The narration from Carl Prekopp deserves a mention as this could have ruined the whole book if it wasn't done just right......and it was done absolutely perfectly.

Brilliant and unputdownable
Wow - this book was amazing, I couldn't stop listening. A huge leap from Book 1. A super-tight plot, excellent character development and wonderful humour which had me laughing out loud. I listened to it in 2 days and hated that it was coming to an end. And what an ending, didn't see it coming at all. I can't wait for Book 3, I hope there's more than 3.
Highly recommended.

More drawn out than the Ring Cycle
Why tell a story in a 4 hour audiobook when you can say it in a series of 12 hour ones? (£?)
You can listen to the first couple hours of this one, skip to the end, and listen to the last couple hours and Not. Miss. A. Second. Of plot...
BUT - RR's writing is superb. That is clear. He is a master of description and natural humour; black and comedic. The action scenes are vivid and pinpoint sharp and move at a breathless pace that really you want more, like a blockbuster FX sequence. But in the chasm between .... there is not a lack of pace, there's a vacuum. (Very slow character development of little consequence is a favourite device, like one of those episodes of a show where they blew the budget on last weeks big ending .)
Characters are suited to the style and plot, and you connect with them as the author intended be it antihero or villan. There's no issue there.
Narrator saves this one flat out. His reading of the first action sequence in book 1 got me hooked and I have been holding on since; I'll no doubt get the follow on but I just hope it flows better and has a steadier rhythm than book 2.

A bit silly
I had real issues with the first one of this series. This one started off better but trailed off and I stopped caring by the end.
Safe to say this series isn't for people who want intelligent sci-fi. I doubt I'll get the third in the series as this just left me feeling bored.
All this in spite of an absolutely excellent narrator
