Summary

Coming home should be the easiest thing in the world, but I've never felt more lost....

When his stellar military career comes to an abrupt and terrible end, 32-year-old Maddox Kent returns to the town he never planned to step foot into again, hoping to mend the rift he himself caused with the brother he left behind. But coming home means facing some hard truths about himself and his actions. When he has the chance to start making amends by helping his brother with the wildlife sanctuary he runs, Maddox is thrown another curveball when a stranger appears....

As long as we keep moving, everything will be okay. That's what I keep telling myself, anyway....

For 21-year-old Isaac, Pelican Bay is only supposed to be a stopping point on the trek from San Francisco to New York. With his little brother, Newt, in tow, Isaac is just looking to make things right by returning something of value to a person he wronged. But "getting lost" in the next big city proves to be a problem when the brutal Minnesota winter claims Isaac's car and strands him and Newt at the animal sanctuary. When the owners of the place offer him a job, a desperate Isaac agrees, despite the presence of a man Isaac instinctively knows could be his downfall....

It should be so easy to let him go, but I can't. And not just because I want to protect him....

Nothing about Isaac makes sense to Maddox. Not his piercings or makeup or flashy clothes. And most certainly not the snarky mouth that doesn't match the vulnerability Maddox sees in the younger man's eyes. But one thing does make sense to the hardened former soldier. Isaac is running from something, and Maddox's gut is telling him not to let Isaac and little Newt go until he can ferret out the truth.

one of Sloane Kennedys best

This is the 2nd book in the Pelican Bay series and I think it is better than the first. The differences between Isaac and Maddox are significant, but there story is both heart warming and hot.

Great listen!

No words can define the magic that is the duo of Kennedy's writing and Pauley's narration. I had already read Sanctuary Found and had fallen in love with the characters but Pauley manages to bring the characters and their emotions alive with his flawless narration. As always with Kennedy's novels you're guaranteed a happy ever after but I sure love the journey Maddox and Isaac had to achieve it. You're gripped from the minute you press play and suffer from a book hangover when it ends. I look forward to the next Pelican Bay novel and the audible that'll come with it.

Sanctuary is found.

I have read and listened to both books in this series and they are Fabulous. You know there will be a HEA but boy there are twists and turns before you get there. I can not wait for book 3 so I can read it then Listen the Audio a few months later. Michael Pauley does a fantastic job of interpreting Sloanes’ words and bringing them to life.

An easy listen

It was ok but found myself getting a bit bored at times. More of an easy listen between other books.

Briliant!!!!

If there is one thing I can count on, is a story from Sloane kennedy, she is without a doubt one of the best authors out there. This is another book written with the same whirlwind plot and just the right amount of angst and happiness. The narrator is perfect for the book and is definitely becoming one of my favourites.

If you love listening to passionate characters and loveable animals that melt your heart, then you'll love this story

Stunning story with beautiful narration, as always

Another beautifully written emotional story from Sloane Kennedy. She really knows how to pull on those heart strings!
And there's no one better to narrate such a tale as Michael Pauley. He seems to have an effortless way of getting across the heartbreak and sorrow felt by the characters but can move into the love and laughter of a happy family so well. This one is actually the first time I've teared up from listening to the story so be prepared!

solid story with a kinky twist <br />

I was so excited at the end of the last book the Discover Isaac and Newt and could not wait for their story. I really enjoyed the story and I felt like it tugged at my Heartstrings. all the characters were wonderful and I adored Newton and Loki. I'm looking forward to the next book and I'm hoping that is Jet in Ford and not Ford and Cam.
typically I love when Michael Pauley narrates a book but this time I wasn't a huge fan. there were times where I felt like he was a bit too much for a scene. Also when he does Maddox voice sometimes it seems to shift and I had to remember whose POV we were listening to.
he does use some of the best sex scenes but sometimes it's a bit harsh when I feel it should be more intimate, in this book was an example of that. But he nailed it when he did Newton's voice.
all-in-all in all I would definitely recommend this book and the book before it and I cannot wait for the next book.

Best M/M romance story I've listened to!

I loved this story and the many interesting characters in it - from 4 year old Newt to grandfather Aaron; estranged brothers Dallas and Maddox; Nolan, Sawyer, Ford and Isaac; Jerry the ornery zebra, Loki the half wolf, Gentry the bear, and Snotrod of the kitten - and the drama and romance that unfolds. Michael Pauley did a phenomenal job voicing each one. Excellent!

Enjoying this series very much

I am so enjoying this series. Sloane Kennedy has brought us another story that wrenches your heart out and then puts it back in. I love how the characters are written. She has a way of giving us the most beautifully broken people. Every story Sloane writes shows you how crazy people can be and what people can be going through. Book one showed us how love and the lack of love can shape your life. I will not spoil for this book, but as always it is a teachable moment. Now, I am on to listen to Book 3, The Truth Within.

Pelican Bay

Michael Pauley is a great narrator!

This is the second story in the series. It is a deeper dive into the story from book one but about a different couple.

Sloane Kennedy writes such well rounded characters. They always bring out all of my emotions as a reader. Maddox is a soldier with PTSD and Isaac is running away from his past. Waiting for the two of them to get together is painful but its so worth it in the end!

Sanctuary Found Book 2 Pelican Bay Series

The Pelican Bay Series is My absolute favorite book series I’ve ever read. I cried through book and book 2.
Book 1 because I related to Dallas with his disability and the love that grew between the couple and book 2 was almost as great. If I gave book 1-5 Stars. I would give book 2-4.9. I want to make it clear that book 2, Sanctuary Found, is just as great. I just relate to Dallas in book 1 more.
I can’t wait to listen to book 3, Truth, tomorrow. The only thing that I don’t care for is there isn’t anymore, yet. But, as I listen to the the last few hours of the audiobook recording of book 2 I began to realize that Sloane Kennedy has many more Pelican Bay gay couple to choose to write about. The setups are subtle but they are there. I really hope Sloane continues the series for several more books. At least, 10 or 11 more 😉.
If you like m/m romance novels that have ups and downs and not only about the relationship between the main characters but whatever else they are going through in their lives like brothers, mothers, fathers, the town and their past mistakes to name just a few and has a hea ending I think you will adore these books as well. Lennox and Kennedy are my most favorite authors and will continue to be for a long time (as long as they keep up writing these fabulous series).

A New Look on Handshakes

I very much enjoyed this listen! Michael Pauley is a superb narrator and I love each distinction he gives each character. The characters!! Maddox and Isaac's story was so sweet and I am so glad that someone finally had Isaac and Newt's back. Newt was adorable and I will never look at a handshake the same way every again! I recommend this series!
