About this listen
Davey’s Rule number 95: Daddy knows that every date or outing deserves a kiss.
Note: This mmm short book is a Davey’s Rules Novella and should technically be numbered as book 3.5 due to its shorter length.
Landon Prescott and his sweet little, Mikey, have a solid relationship. Nothing is missing, they are happily in love, and life couldn’t be better. An accident while shopping brings MIkey into the emergency room at the hospital where daddy Landon has privileges and Mikey finds himself fascinated by the same twitchy ER doc that has caught Landon’s eye once or twice.
Dr. Chris Kowalski is in his final year of residency and the future looks rosy...if he could just get a good night’s sleep and maybe be a little less clumsy. The problem? Aside from needing a better living situation, Chris needs time with his inner pup...time he hasn’t had in several years.
With a nudge from Davey and a couple other familiar faces, Chris finds himself at the club with the two men that he hasn’t been able to get off his mind. Will Mikey get the pup he begs his daddy for? And if so, how will it work if they decide to bring a third into an already solid relationship?
This mmm romance is number four in a series about not-so-perfect daddies, adorable “boys,” and one sassy brat with an insane list of rules. Grab your fan and tissues because this series comes with both a high heat advisory and all the squishy feels you’d want from a Susan Hawke book. Please be aware that this is a bonus book to the series, a 24k short novella rather than a full-length novel.

Michael Pauley’s narration is as always top notch. Brings the characters into their own.
Sweet puppy love

Chris Kowalski is an emergency room physician from South Carolina. He works with pediatric surgeon Dr. Landon Prescott but neither man has seen what the other is. Chris is a pup in need of a master. Landon is a Daddy with a little boy Mikey. Only Davey, a bartender at the club Daddy’s Lap sees the situation for what it is. He invites Chris to come to the club. Chris is reticent. His first master was a disaster and he’s hidden that part of himself away ever since, resigned to just being a doctor and a bit of a klutz at that.
At the club he finds his people. At first he sits with the adults and carries on a conversation but then Landon offers to do a simple scene with him. Chris is finally free to be himself. He plays with Mikey and feels a deep contentment he’s been missing for years. But Landon and Michal (an aerospace engineer) have a good life. Taking on a third, a puppy no less, would complicate things. Right?
For me, ménage stories only work if there is a true equality. When two of the parties are littles or pups, it can be dicey. I love that negotiations always take place when all the men are in their adult personas. But I also love that Mikey and Chris can trust their Daddy/Master enough to know they’ll be treasured. Be cossetted. Be loved. Isn’t that what we all really want? Could I be a puppy or a little? Doubt it, but there is something tempting about the idea of letting someone else take control for once. For letting go of all responsibility and being free.
I love the dynamics in this story and even though it was short, it was very satisfying. I’m also loving this series and although I want Davey to find his forever Daddy, I’m enjoying watching him play matchmaker. The next story is out and I’m waiting with bated breath for it to come out on audio because, truly, I think Michael Dean (formerly Michael Pauley) was destined to narrate this series. He’s perfection, especially when he’s in Mikey’s point of view. There’s a mishap while Davey is babysitting and Michael just nails little Mikey in distress. My heart might have clutched a little bit because it’s every adult’s nightmare for a child to be hurt on their watch. Everything worked out in the end. Anyway, great short addition to the series and can’t wait for the next one.
Davey’s Rule # 74 – Daddy must always be available for comfort when his boy needs him mostest.
