About this listen

Kay's life is in a mess. Now she's been given the chance to go back and relive six days of her life again. Can she use them wisely to turn things around?

At 18, she had it all - brains, beauty, and plans for a glittering career. By 43, she is barely scraping a living and renting a grotty flat above a chip shop. Traded in by her husband for a younger model, she spends her life seeking solace in vodka and one night stands.

With her new found ability to time travel Kay makes good use of her trips back in time, from reliving Christmas Day in the 1980's to turning private detective in her own divorce case. But will an attempt to unmask a murderer in the local community be her undoing?

Rock Bottom is the second in a loosely connected series of time travel novels. It features characters and situations from the accompanying Time Bubble series and can be listened to standalone or alongside those stories.

Despite a slow over detailed setup at the start - which I now having completed the book well understand - this was a very good story by Jason Ayres. The character development of Kay was excellent and the insight to the others good too

Quite a few twists and some great links to the other time bubble stories. I had a clue early on who the ‘angel’ and was and this was confirmed at the end. No spoilers here!

Narration was a bit slow and laboured at times and the audio quality could be better but she performed pretty well and did not detract from the story.

If you love Jason’s Time Bubble books I’m pretty sure you’ll like this one too!

Now onto Book 9!

If you enjoyed then

… by bad narration. I’ve read all of the Time Bubble books but thought I’d give the audio versions a go. This one is, how to put it… gushy? The narrator reads this in a twee fashion, in any scene where even the slightest bit of affection is present., The recording seems slow as well, but +1 it’s ok.

Another one spoiled

One of the better books in the series. What was a background character in the other books becomes a relatable lead character.

However, this was recorded on a catheter tape in someone's very echo'y bathroom. The volume and quality jumps randomly within the same chapter, the volume is low, lines are repeated, and the echo is almost unbearable.

I don't believe anyone listened to this before releasing it.

One of the better stories, but the worst recording
