Summary

From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Susan Stoker comes a new story in her Delta Force Heroes series....

After years of estrangement, Mercedes Laughlin has finally reconciled with her older brother. It should be the happiest time of her life, getting to know Truck and his new wife...and it would be, if an ex wasn’t causing her trouble. Add in Truck’s boss, Colonel Colton Robinson, an amazingly distracting man whom she met under embarrassing circumstances, and Macie’s got a bit more on her plate than she can handle.

From the moment they met, Colt was fascinated by Macie, and helping her through an anxiety attack at her brother’s wedding didn’t diminish the appeal. He’d do his best to sweep her off her feet, if not for a little voice telling him to tread lightly - until a frantic phone call changes the plan. Macie’s being targeted, and Colt’s determined to keep her safe while he and her brother eliminate the threat.

Colt isn’t about to let his friend lose his sister again so soon...or miss his own chance at a happy ending with Macie before they’ve barely had a beginning.

I loved it!

The relationship between Colt and Macie is absolutely perfect. His strength gives her the support she needs and her faith in him gives him the peace he was missing. Macie's issues with anxiety are well described and her struggles don't in any way make her weak, while Colt completely melted my heart.

Great story about heroines struggles

Great to read about the heroines struggles with panic attacks and how the story evolved when she reconnected with Cole and the support from him and his team. It is a great reminder that we should never judge a book by its cover (no pun intended). The book had great characterization and was well narrated.

A sweet novella

This is a Delta Force Heroes quickie!😊 I have listened to a couple of the others, but I particularly appreciated this one as it dealt with someone dealing with panic attacks on a regular basis. Also, it touched on how our soldiers feel when they loose teammates, and what they would do for each other. Wonderful, Poignant story!

Another wonderful story!!!

Susan Stoker did an amazing job with this story!!!
This novella size book did NOT seem like a novella, but an actual full length book. Like all of this authors stories, it is action packed and is a total page turner. This makes it end way to quickly.
The narrator, Stella Bloom did a great job on this story, like she usually does.

This is Macie and Colts book.
Colt is the Delta Force commander. We get to see both teams, although we see the newer team more than the older one. Mainly, because Truck would lose his crap if he was in on the op to rescue Macie.

Macie has anxiety, and a grumpy exboyfriend.
He starts stuff with her, and she stays with the commander for safety reasons...or is it? *wink wink*
Her ex gets her, and the delta force rescues her. The entire story is just wonderful!!

You HAVE to read this story!!
You will NOT be disappointed!!

Excellent story. My first Delta Force story but certainly not my last. I loved Macie with all her insecurities and fears. She knows herself and what she needs to do to be healthy. She also knows her strengths and is very loyal. Colt is perfect for her and vice versa.

Great characters and narration

I love the characters in this book. They are so well shown through the words. I like that Macie's anxiety disorder is shown without making her sound like she's defective. The suspense is good. The narration is enjoyable.

Loved Cole and Macie

Colt and Macie are darling. They have a 10-year age gap and Macie manages an anxiety disorder (this is not a spoiler since we know this from the last book). As with all of Stoker’s kickass heroines Macie is smart and clever. Colt is attentive and perfect with Macie. The action is believable and the novel flows beautifully.

Stella Bloom is wonderful in narrating voices.

HIGHLY recommended!!

I love Macie!

I’m so glad we got to see more of Truck’s sister, Macie. The poor girl is a basket full of emotions and you never know if it’s gonna be a good day or not but she’s completely love able!

Her back story is heart wrenching at times but she’s managed to over come some of the heartache. With the hep of the men and women around her, she’ll get better and better. I look forward to maybe more about them all in the next series.

Can I vote ten stars, please?

Macie met Colonel Colt Robinson at Truck's wedding when he took it upon himself to help her through her anxiety attack. Colt became her anchor, the only person she felt who could help her overcome her fears, especially when she was dealing with her ex who was hell-bent on causing her trouble.

In this story of Macie Laughlin, Truck’s (Rescuing Mary) estranged sister, Susan Stoker brings focus to anxiety disorder, an illness often misdiagnosed or not given importance.

According to doctors, “anxiety attack” is not a formal, clinical term. Instead, it is one that is used by many people to describe a wide array of feelings, from feeling worried about an upcoming event to intense feelings of terror or fear “that would meet the diagnostic criteria for a panic attack.”

Most often, those suffering from anxiety disorder feel as if they are not being taken seriously. They hear words like “it’s all in your head,” “you’re just acting out,” etc. Sometimes they are told that their fears are insignificant, and that there are bigger problems than theirs. Words that, in effect, only help to pull them into a downward spiral of insecurity, self-doubt, and yes, despair.

I cannot believe the courage and talent of this author for doing her very best to shine a light on topics most often shunned by many. Yes, her work is fiction, but the issues she writes about—this time, on anxiety—are most definitely not, and I hope, dear reader, that you see what she wants you to know beyond the pages of her books. That you, dear reader, are important, that you matter, and that you, yes, you, are allowed to reach out, that there are lifelines everywhere, and all you need to do is ask.

As to Stella Bloom, Susan Stoker’s wonderful narrator—words are not enough for me to say that you, my dear, have a lifelong fan in me.
