About this listen

The Number One Sunday Times Bestseller, written and read by Russell Brand.

This is the age of addiction, a condition so epidemic, so all encompassing and ubiquitous that unless you are fortunate enough to be an extreme case, you probably don't know that you have it.

What unhealthy habits and attachments are holding your life together? Are you unconsciously dependent on food? Bad relationships? A job that doesn't fulfill you? Numb, constant perusal of your phone, looking for what?

My qualification for writing this book is not that I am better than you, it's that I am worse. I am an addict, addicted to drugs, alcohol, sex, money, love and fame.

The program in Recovery has given Russell Brand freedom from all addictions and it will do the same for you.

This system offers nothing less than liberation from self-centredness, a new perspective, freedom from the illusion of suffering for anyone who is willing to take the necessary steps.

As an addict in active recovery, this book helped me refocus on the areas of my life that still need work. That will always need work.

It's honest, captivating, worthwhile and I recommend to fellow addicts wholeheartedly.

Thanks Russell.

Brilliant book

I loved this book and I loved Russell's narration. It is honest and I found it comforting to hear someone else speak out loud about what we all sometimes feel. Ironically, I think I will keep listening to this book over and over! He is so honest about himself and his life and I find that a very generous act. After listening to this it is impossible to ignore your own feelings and behaviour. I think this book could be a comfort to anyone who has anxiety, because ultimately I think that is the cause of a lot of addictive behaviour. I would like to think he would go on to narrate more books - he has great communication.

This book is the best I’ve come across on the subject.
It’s also a book I think benefits bring audible and read by the author.
This book is not only for addicts but all people although I am an addict so my perception may not be true on this point and on the flip side most people have a degree of addictive behaviour.
This book could be live changing or just a book that makes you think about being a better human.
This book is very clever and informative but also very personal and gives insight into the person that is Russell Brand which is interstellar (weird I meant to right interesting but predictive text gave me interstellar so I’ll leave it be)

For everybody not just addicts

Very descriptive language and takes a little tuning in at first but that is how Russell speaks.
These are the days of change. He is right.
Please try it. We are all need something.

Grear honesty from an addict

As a non addict but someone who has experienced topics mentioned i was interested to hear about the 12 step structure. Russel has a way with words like no one I've ever heard before and keeps me locked in and engaged with information given. Being a dyslexic we get bored very easy and is probably why I've never fallen into the trap of addiction. However after listening to Russel about chains of event's in one's life can be identified through the 12 steps was mind blowing and also how we can help anyone we know through their own cloudy troubles is just inspiring. Go for it, as you will not be disappointed and you might just find out something really interesting about yourself 😊 Base Gamble.
