Engrossing

Nathan and his fellow companions are involved in another war. The Aurora has arrived to help. The Dusahn Empire, a possible rogue Jung clan, has taken over the Pentaurus System. Nathen is to lead the Karazari in their fight for freedom. The first thing is to find a big ship to hold all the people rescued from Webster after the Dusahn destroyed the planet. Nathan, Vlad and Jessica with some Ghatazhak set out to obtain the luxury cruise ship the Mystic. Vlad gest to command Tuplo’s ship and fight a battle with the pirates who are also after the Mystic.

The book is well written. The plot is straight forward with lots of action and suspense. Brown continues to develop his characters. I cannot wait to find out what happens next.

The book is almost eight and a half hours long. Jeffrey Kafer does an excellent job narrating the book. Kafer is a multi-award-winning audiobook narrator.

Get a new narrator!

I have loved this series but can't take any more of Jeffrey Kafer's droning! He makes an exciting story sound boring.

Very good story, too stretched out

I have listened to part 1 and I am listening to Rebellion in part 2. They have all been great to listen to, but the author is really stretching each book, longer and longer.
When I finish Rebellion, I am done. I will never buy another book by this author!

More of an outtake than a continuation

Great story but the story could have been summed up in a couple paragraphs in the main story line. Narrator was great as usual.

wow

As with the others Ryke Brown outdid himself and with Jeffrey Kaffer narration it made you feel right in the middle of everything.

Best so far

I have followed this series, and the prequel series, and I do believe this book is among the best. It's not all bombing, jumping-flashing, and planetary destruction, which dimished some books in the prior series, at least for me. The plot is quite solid, with relationships, conspiracies, and a stealth mission to free a cruise ship from enemy hands.

Admiral Galiardi is up to his old decietful tricks, and proves a canny adversary to Captain Nathan Scott / Connor Tuplo (yes, he's baa-ack, and with some surprising new abilities, it seems).

Characters also include Marcus, Josh and Loki, Captain Cameron Taylor and her crew (yay!), Commander Vladimir Kamenetsky (yay!), Captain Nash, Captain Gil Roselle, General Telles and his Ghatazak super-soldiers -- which includes Jessica Nash. Also, several new characters join Nathan in alliance against the enemy Dahsahn-Jung.

I am still waiting to learn more about that toe-rag from the first series -- the one who escaped with a stolen ship full of loyal fanatics, after blowing up the city that gave him sanctuary. I think he might have started the bio-digital plague, a millenia ago. (I do hope the author has a plan to wrap up that plot thread, and before I lose interest.)

Narration is quite good, but (for my shell-like ears) sometimes it feels a bit too gravelly, after a while, because Kafer has a fairly deep voice. He also occasionally reads with a slightly monotonous cadence, but this is a minor quibble.

Love this series

biggest problem this book and others is they are too short; hence only three stars. Feels like they intentionally break it up for a money grab, which disappoints me. Otherwide, love the series.

Fantastic

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I recommend this book because this is fun from the top shelf of entertainment.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jessica all the way. I love that girl!

Which character – as performed by Jeffrey Kafer – was your favorite?

His performance is fantastic across the board, but I know exactly when Nathan is speaking.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It takes me away from my everyday life and makes me an observer like a fly on a wall.

Any additional comments?

I hope Ryk continues this story for a very long time.

One of the best ones in the new series

I am probably stating that because the Captain is actually back but this was a great addition.

I really look forward to the next and seeing him in action!
