Author Patrick Burkhalter is a medical professional, so he knows his stuff. If you are worried about getting insufficient nutrients, high cholesterol, gastrointestinal issues, or even the cost, he has answers. The key, as he explains, is to eat grass-fed beef, free-range chicken, pasture-raised pork, and wild fish for nutritional and ethical reasons. He also provides a list of other foods you can eat and foods you should not, as well as supplements that you might need, particularly early on. He encourages you to experiment a bit to find out exactly how your body deals with certain foods, and he allows for some divergence from a purist meat-only diet.
Based on my Atkins experience and the great information provided in this book, I have no doubt this diet will help me lose weight, maintain muscle, stay full longer, and remain healthy. I should also say that I appreciate this book at a time when vegans seem to be constantly yelling about their diet.
