Heat, fiery desire and explosive passion

I didn't even get through chapter one before I was sobbing uncontrollably, this series sucks you in from the first page of each book, you leave the outside world and become immersed in the characters, feeling their fears, their pain, their hope and their knowledge that this time they may not live through it.
The Oswald's have lived through trauma like no other family, it may have solidified their bond but they all have a need to protect, to defend, to give their all or their life if needed to ensure others can live free. And whilst you have to respect them for it, you also hate them a little too, because you want nothing more than for them to feel the love, acceptance and happiness they give to others so freely, but they refuse to fight for it themselves...almost as if they feel unworthy of love and happiness.
Fortunately Sparrow's acceptance of Ethan's limitations and her walking away are what make him take a long, hard look at himself, his life and what his dead wife would actually have wanted for him. Would she have wanted him to continue living in grief, surviving on less or would she have wanted him to find another woman who will love him as much as she did? What would he have wanted for her if the tables were turned? A deep and emotional journey for Ethan to take, and I am glad he takes it voluntarily, not because Sparrow has forced the issue, it again brought me to tears, but as emotionally wrecked as each and every book in this series leaves me, I love it and eagerly look forward to the next.

* Protectors Hawk - book 5
***** 5 stars
A tangled web of deceit, danger, corruption and heartbreak

Fate has Madeline and Hawk meeting and spending the night together, but someone takes advantage of their one night and the repercussions of that night to manipulate them back together. I love that they are thrilled to find each other again, but the niggles of unease and doubt rip them apart....playing straight into the hands of those pulling their strings.
As a parent this is heartbreaking and tough to listen to, thankfully the Oswald men admit when they are wrong and don't hesitate to correct their actions and throw themselves on the mercy of the women they have wronged, the women they have let down, the women they have failed. The women they love.
I really like this series but I love all the Oswald siblings and the partners they find.

* Protecting Dove - book 6

"I'm sassiness, not sweetness!"

I think that Dove is possibly the strongest Oswald, she had to battle so much more through their tough childhood, and in the years since she not only has daily battles none of us appreciate, but also the ghosts she has been battling alone for the last two years. Unfortunately for her when she and Isaac are taken, every one of her ghosts are back and very real as she fights them, fights for her life....and Isaac's. Isaac is a difficult character to read, he is so good for Dove and does everything he can to show Dove just how strong she is, but he doubts himself constantly, quickly spiraling and ready to leave Dove to "protect" her from his demons. You swing from liking him, to being frustrated with him, then sad for him.
This is emotionally tough, physically tough and everything we have come to expect from Prey Security. I listened to this on Audible, but it is also available on Kindle Unlimited.

The Oswald's never stop fighting for family
