About this listen

Warning: This novel contains excessive humor, a fire-breathing unicorn on a mission of destruction, magic, romance, and bodies. Proceed with caution.

Catering to the magical is a tough gig on a good day, but Bailey has few other options. Spiking drinks with pixie dust keeps the locals happy and beats cleaning up the world’s nastiest magical substances. But she could live without serving Police Chief Samuel Quinn most days of the week, especially after destroying his marriage.

But when she’s targeted with a cell phone bomb containing gorgon dust capable of transforming her home into a stone tomb, she’s tossed headfirst into a mess with her sexiest enemy. Add in his ex-wife angling for revenge, and Bailey must use every trick up her sleeve to survive.

The last thing she needs is to fall in love with Manhattan’s most-wanted bachelor. Saving Manhattan will be tough enough.

Refreshing and hilarious—I actually snorted out loud several times. It’s definitely 'bonkers,' but it works perfectly for a comedy. However, the narration was a struggle. I'm not sure what accent the narrator was going for, but it makes the male voices sound quite dumb and completely devoid of emotion. It gets even worse during quick banter. It's still worth a listen for the story, but the vocal performance is a letdown.

Hilarious

I'm still listening to it, but I want to say it now that I love how bonkers it is. It's so bonkers that it doesn't matter if things make sense. Yet, they kind of do. It's a fantasy comedy after all.

Bonkers

I absolutely love this book, so well written and funny. Spoiler warning:
Fired breading unicorn, fea dust. LOVE it.

One of the funniest books ever

Crazy world-building, story and characters. Set in a modern day USA populated by both humans and magical creatures, the author manages to make a napalm-eating unicorn seem almost normal. Brilliant banter throughout. Why have I never heard of this author before?

Absolutely hilarious! What a gem!

Honestly I have no idea what I’ve even listened to. It was utterly bizarre but enjoyable?
I started originally and stopped after 2 chapters. I decided to come back and I’m so glad I did.
The book feels like some sort of oxymoron. It’s silly but serious. Confusing but makes sense.

I’m definitely listening to the next one which seems even weirder. I have no idea why I’m doing it but I am! I don’t know why they are so good.

Well that was something.
