What if the past isn't what keeps us trapped - but the meaning we've given it? After more than twenty years of drinking, Paul Macauley's life had unravelled. Alcohol had once offered an escape from pain. Eventually, it became part of the pain itself. At rock bottom - physically broken, alone and suicidal - something had to change. Getting sober saved his life. But learning how to live changed it. Through recovery and an extraordinary relationship with his mentor Arthur, Paul began questioning everything he thought he knew about his past, his pain and himself. What emerged was a radically different way of seeing life. What if pain isn't the enemy? What if fear has a greater purpose - to show us a better way? What if the experiences you would erase from your life helped create the person capable of changing it? Peace Is Perception is not about denying pain or pretending the past didn't hurt. Its about discovering that while we cannot change what happened, we can change the meaning we give it. And when the meaning changes, so will the way we feel, the way we live and the person we become. The past is already written. The meaning you give it isn't.©2024 Paul Macauley (P)2025 Paul Macauley Addiction & Recovery Alcoholism Personal Development Stress Management Substance abuse

I absolutely loved this book. One line that really struck me was: "If the mind can make you sick, then you have to believe the mind can make you well." It resonated deeply and genuinely shifted my perspective. Another powerful moment was the line: "Pain doesn't happen to us, it happens for us—so we can do better." Just brilliant. So impactful.

The preface felt a bit heavy, but once I got into chapter one, I was completely drawn in. Engaging, insightful, and truly inspiring.
