About this listen

Everyone knows dragons have been extinct for over 1,000 years.

Everyone is wrong.

At least one dragon remains, and military scientists from the Cofah Empire are experimenting with its blood, using the magical substance to power deadly new weapons that could be used to bring the world to its knees. That's a concern for Zirkander, Cas, and the rest of the Iskandians, but all Tolemek wants is to find his missing sister. The last time he saw her, their father had locked her in an asylum because of a mental illness with no cure. Now the military has taken her. What use the Cofah have for her, Tolemek can only guess, but he is certain she is in danger. He must save her before it's too late. But her fate is inexplicably tied to the dragon's, and he must find it to find her.

I've become rather attached to this series and the characters - whom are all well developed, interesting and fully integrated within the plot. The narrator does a fine job of voicing the different individuals so that you can discern each by the voice and inflections she gives them.

I started the series by downloading the omnibus of the first 3 books for free as an Audible member, but became hooked and am now buying them on my own as I've got to find out 'what happens next'!

I happily recommend this book, like the whole genre, it's a firm favourite forming a guilty pleasure for me! Easy to listen to, good plots and sub-plots, great story telling and all in all, a fun listen.

The interesting adventure story continues

really enjoying the story and the characters. Some of the writing and word choices is a little under developed but over old good. sadly the narration leaves a lot to be desired with odd pronunciation, an inability to pronounce certain letters, chosing to miss them out completely, and slightly staccato speech when speaking a characters words which imparts a robotic edge to the writing rather than a more natural quality of speech, especially when the narrator is voicing the different characters. She seems much more natural when just doing the narration between the speech so not sure why this is lost when she is playing the characters

enjoyable story less good narration
