Summary

For Mark Caldwell, an unsatisfying life was about to take a turn both terrifying and exhilarating as his fate took an unimaginable turn.

When Mark took his aisle seat aboard United flight 4382, he was ignorant of three facts. The fellow passenger in the window seat was named Joseph Colsco. Neither of them would ever set foot on Earth again. They both would be cast naked on an alien planet.

Adapt or die. Those were the choices. Determined to grasp the chance at a second life, Mark plunges into an adventure he couldn’t anticipate and leading to a future he can’t predict.

Anyar continued, with more adrenalin rush

I was wondering how Thorensen would continue the Anyar chronicles, and this is it, and it's a beauty.
It picks up the story "An Unseen Danger" from Book 5, Tales of Anyar, and fills in Mark Caldwell's story, which reappears as Chapter 26, "An Unforseen Danger" in this book. Initially, I was not all that impressed. Caldwell is quite a different personality to Colsco, and is much more self interested, until Anyar life experiences teaches him some hard lessons. Apart from his run-in with the guilds, the story line bumps along steadily. But by the end of Chapter 26, the story really gallops and Caldwell faces some life-changing situations and comes through a much wiser and likeable character.
Davis does his usual excellent job of performing the story, with appropriate voice characterizations. I find his performance adds significantly to my simple reading of the text.
The story ends leaving us readers/listeners hanging in there for the sequel. I'll be one to get it when it arrives and I'll be listening to this book more than once.
Strongly recommended, but the previous volumes, at least the first four, in the series should be read first to appreciate the situations in this story.

Excellent book in an excellent series

Can’t wait for book 7. Each book has been enjoyable as a self contained unit but left you eager for the next instalment

Brilliant again

My heart is pounding. Thank you Mr Thorensen. No pressure but I hope tyou have material for few more books still. The characters and the fate of people of Anyar are so dear to me. I hope for great things for them.

Another awesome read.

I have read all the books in this series. The first 4, back to back three times. When part 5 came out. I read them again. Part 5 is good however, better understood and enjoyed if the 1st four are read beforehand.
Passages does not disappoint. The main character I eventually began to loved almost as much a Yozef. Mr Thorensen I am in awe of your stories and Mr Davis, you narrate brilliantly. So much so, I actually feel as if Ian there at times. I cannot wait for more Tales of Anyar. IMHO I can see atleast 3 more books to come. Even if you don't delve into the origin of Hal.
Very well done Sir

It was definitely the right time to introduce Mark

After four and a bit books following Joseph, it was definitely the right time to introduce Mark to the universe. Unlike Joseph who can come across as a messiah, perfect like character, whose knowledge never gets questioned and never seems to fail in his enterprises, Mark is anything but. He is much more relatable and struggles to transfer his knowledge into the society he is placed in. He is more brutish and I feel this makes him MUCH more relatable to the audience. He can make mistakes and he pays the price for it. Its an interesting to & fro of success and failure.

When is the next book ready??
