Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

It doesn't matter if you've been married for 40 years or dating for 4 months, money touches every decision you make as a couple - from the $5 cup of coffee to the $50,000 car. And when the two of you don't see eye-to-eye on how much to spend or how much to save, that's when arguments turn into ugly toxic fights that leave both persons feeling hurt and angry. It's why money has become the number-one cause of divorce in the U.S. Obviously, something needs to change.

Summary
Ever struggled to say no to an expensive dinner with friends? Found yourself unable to ask for a pay rise even though you deserved it? Got stuck in an overdraft and felt too ashamed to tell anyone?
From friendships, to ambitions, to mental health, money plays a huge role in our lives and relationships, yet we're often too polite or embarrassed to talk about it. But in an age of pay-gap exposés and growing inequality, conversations about money are more important than ever.
Open Up is an outspoken, warm and timely audiobook that destigmatises the way we talk, think and feel about money. It's full of conversations about money in everyday life - how we earn it, how we spend it and how it affects us. Whether learning from friends, being transparent with partners, finding community with colleagues or recognising what you're worth, talking about money means letting go of shame and creating a healthy relationship with your finances. Full of sympathetic, practical advice on everything from mindful spending to the freelance jump and how to challenge the status quo, this is an audiobook that strips away the awkwardness, to help you find the power and solidarity of talking about money.

Highly recommended and thought provoking
I have really enjoyed listening to this, I am going to recommend it to my daughter who is in her twenties, I wish I had something like this at her age. Money always seemed like a mystery to me and I was terrible with it. This book offers so many great pieces of advice on many aspects of money but not in a preachy way. All of the case studies are really interesting and whatever your age you will learn something.

Really enjoyed the whole content. I am in process of a make over for my financial freedom and this book helped me to think more strategically. Found a bit frustrating the author is so stressed on gender and feminist topics more than anything else. I understand the changes we need in modern world. Anyways in general I enjoyed the open up way. Thank you.
