Having already pedalled 18,000 miles from Britain to Beijing, Charlie Walker’s homeward leg carried him a further 26,000 miles through Central Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

The two-and-a-half-year journey spanned the mountains and deserts of former Soviet Republics, Afghanistan on the fearful brink of foreign withdrawal, and remote corners of the Congolese jungle. Charlie Walker knows how to write an adventure story and what a bold adventure this is! Much more than a typical round the world tourist style bike ride, the journey taken goes way beyond the beaten tourist trail into areas of the world that perhaps should not be visited alone, and for good reason. Quite sad for the story to end when it did, really enjoyed the take on history and quotes at start of each chapter.
