About this listen

When the Divine needs an intervention...

As champion of the Goddess of Fate, Marluck had it all: fame, power, status—until his divine favor was stripped while fighting a freakish fledgling god-beast. He somehow became an Oathbreaker: a reviled fallen paladin, scorned by all. A sentence from which most never recover.

Bereft of his powers and cast down lower than the cobbles, Marluck stumbles across the Oathbreakers Guild, where other ex-holy warriors like himself meet weekly and share their woes amid cheap ale.

It helps, for a time. But when a stranger in the group whispers of four holy sites where other Oathbreakers found favor once more, Marluck is helpless to resist the siren song of renewed succor within the fold of his goddess. Together with three eccentric paladins of wildly different faiths—each with demons of their own—Marluck sets out on a do-or-die quest to find favor once more.

A hilarious, knockout fantasy from the author of The Dragon’s Banker.

If you are a fan of Dungeons & Dragons, or any role playing game, OR in fact any fantasy genre, and are looking for an audiobook with humour, suspense, action and heartfelt drama, then this is honestly one of the top choices out there.
Mark’s performance is what brought me into the story the most. All the characters are well delivered and you can sense their emotions and mannerism in a way that immediately builds an indelible image of what each of them looks like, how they would move, everything. It really did make it a truly cinematic experience.
(I mean a TV/Film adaptation would not be a bad shout!)

An Amazing D&D story, Amazingly performed!

An excellent fantasy book, with shades of Tolkein and Pratchett. Well plotted, lots of action and a satisfying ending. The narration was excellent with lots of identifying accents - it really made the story come alive. A must for all fans of fantasy fiction
