Summary
Struggling to put her life back together after almost being murdered, OR nurse Annie Collins agrees to help homicide Detective Alex Frost investigate a troubling number of patient deaths in the ICU step-down unit at her hospital. The deaths are not unexpected, but Annie and Frost wonder whether someone is helping patients die.
Assistant district attorney Angel Cisneros, Annie’s close friend and neighbor, worries about her involvement with Frost’s investigation and about her well-being after all she’s been through. His worry escalates after a person from her past contacts her. His feelings for her make dealing with the repercussions of both difficult. Will Angel go from girl-of-the-month to something serious with Annie?
Dangerous enemies are one thing Annie and Angel have in common. Angel and another ADA are the targets of tire slashing, vandalism, and harassment that may or may not be related to a trial and its verdict. Is it juvenile payback for the verdict by an unhappy friend or relative of a defendant, or is it more deadly than that?
As both Annie and Angel discover, paybacks are hell.

A Hospital Based Crime Myster
Annie Collins, still recovering from her last and very personal encounter with a multiple murderer, finds she is again a target. In the meantime people are being murdered in her hospital. With the help of her close friend and a police detective she sets about finding some answers. Annie is turning out to be a great character with an enjoyable cast around her. The plot has lots of twists and turns plus a love story built in. The narration is excellent, adding to the listeners pleasure.

Awesome Story!
No Pity In Death by Helen Starbuck really grabbed me. The author writes vivid imagery, has incredible twists, great character development, and a complex plot. I love it when the killer is not obvious, and was pleasantly surprised that I hadn't figured it out. I loved the ending of this book too! Part of this book is very thought provoking. It is really well done. I was really impressed by the author's style in The Mad Hatter's Son, and this book is even better. The narration by Suzanne T Fortin is spot on. She gives the right emotions and has distinguishable voices for the various characters. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Great Listen
This is the second book in the series; it can be listened to as a standalone but is easier to understand if you listen to The Mad Hatter's Son first because there are character relationships and details that were already clearly established. Annie is such a strong female character that is easy to admire. I love female characters that can hit rock bottom and figure out how to pick themselves back up and move forward. Annie is on a mission to figure out who is killing DNR patients in the hospital and at the same time, dealing with some trauma from the 1st book. This book explores one of Annie's romantic interests from the previous book which I really enjoyed. Where the last book was more of a mystery with a hint of romance, this one is pretty much half romance and half mystery. I like the author's style and felt that the story was well written and moved smoothly.
I enjoyed this narrator's performance just as much in this one as I did in The Mad Hatter's Son. I think she is an excellent fit for Annie and is able to capture her seriousness as a character as well as magnify the tragic events in this book. Clear, easily distinguishable voices and a great performance.

This is the second in the Annie Collins series. You have to read the first because this is a continuation of book 1. Very good mystery/thriller plot
