About this listen

'Feels like a blockbuster movie… Amazing, authentic characters, some of the best dialogue I've read' HELEN FIELDS

'Brilliant! Mark Billingham meets Guy Ritchie. A hugely entertaining, compelling read’ C.L. TAYLOR

'Pulse-pounding new thriller' THE MIRROR

The old unit will reunite to complete one last mission in honour of their fallen comrade.

When retired Royal Marine Frankie Chapman is killed during a home invasion, his valuable military medals are stolen. The medals resurface on the black market, and members of the 11/06 club discover they might have fallen into the hands of a wealthy billionaire who dabbles in human trafficking.

They may be old hard-cases living on past glories from the Falklands but they're still an elite group of ex-military operatives. Each one owes Frankie their life and will stop at nothing to repay their debt, so they come together for one final mission – to steal the medals back.

And Frankie's daughter, Josie, wants in on the action. But Josie wants more than just her dad's medals. She wants revenge…

Praise for the author:

'Brilliant! Mark Billingham meets Guy Ritchie. A hugely entertaining, compelling read’ C.L. TAYLOR

'Pulse-pounding new thriller'THE MIRROR

'Non-stop action, breakneck pace, deliciously suspenseful… When Shadows Fall was my first DS Max Craigie book and won’t be my last – I loved it.' Andrea Mara

'Superb reading. Neil is the master of the crime mystery. His serial killer "pusher" is the creepiest villain I think I've met this century…' Jeremy Vine

'Bone-chilling and full of so many twists' The Sun

'A good old police procedural… I was pleasantly terrified' The Guardian

‘As hard as it is to believe, these books just get better and betterTony Kent

A wickedly clever and riveting thriller’ Graham Bartlett

‘Neil Lancaster just gets better and better. This is a gripping read that feels entirely authentic, seasoned with lovely flashes of humour' Cass Green

‘Neil Lancaster is one of the most exciting, innovative crime writers in the UK right now… One of the best police procedurals I’ve read in a long time. Consider me a fan’ M. W. Craven

When Shadows Fall is searing in its pace and achingly good in everything else. The imagery, the story, the characters… It’s rare that a book is such a joy to read, particularly one mid-series when – as a reader – you are behind the eight-ball, but Neil has absolutely smashed it out of the ball park. It’s so, so good.’ G. D. Wright

'A spine-chilling concept, despicable villains, a propulsive narrative. As satisfying as crime fiction gets.' Paul Finch

Couldn’t follow logic of why there was a need for two readers, didn’t seem to follow any pattern in the story or characters.

For me personally, the chapter variation in narrative just eluded me. 2 different narrators merely which distracted listening from the story which, on it's own, sounded promising. Perhaps my expectation was blurred by the excellent DS Max Craigie series but looking back at the Tom Novak series, I'd have to suggest NL stays with the trusted and superb Mr A K. M.

Don't change a winning formula....
