Summary

Now available for the first time in audiobook format, Necroscope III: The Source is the third installment in the Necroscope series by horror master Brian Lumley. This story traces the battle between Harry Keogh and the horrifying Vamphyri on their home ground, an alien landscape of looming towers, impossible cliffs, and ravenous vampire-beasts.

Russia's Ural Mountains hide a deadly secret: a supernatural portal to the country of the vampires. Soviet scientists and ESP-powered spies, in a secret military base, study the portal - and the powerfully evil creatures that emerge from it, intent on ravaging mankind.

When Jazz Simmons, a British agent sent to infiltrate the base, is captured by the KGB espionage squad and forced through the portal, his last message tells Harry Keogh, the Necroscope, that the vampires are preparing for a mass invasion.

Harry has only one option - to strike first. He must carry the human-vampire war to the vampire's own lands. But his strongest psychic power will be useless there. What good is the power to summon the dead in a country where nothing ever dies, where every man, woman, and child becomes half-dead servants of the Vamphyri?

Superb - now let's get the whole series!

The Necroscope series is fact becoming one of my favourite audiobook experiences. Not only is it my favourite of Lumley's various series but it's narrated beautifully. Whenever I imagine any of the characters it's James Langton's performance I hear.

These are absolutely superb and I recommend them to fans of lovecraftian horror and anyone who wants an original and rich take on the vampire mythos rooted in a good understanding. Please Macmillan and Audible - get Langton back in the studio asap and get this whole series out and available. A Necroscope revival is long overdue.

Loved this books the first and second time and now listening to them is every bit as good. Hope they continue making the rest of the series. This book is just the start of the next stage of the epic saga.

A well read classic

My favourite book of the original series. The reading really provided atmosphere and flowed well. Hope the Vampire World books are on plan too.

Just amazing! Best vampires ever!

I read this book a long time ago (I read the full series) but this one was a particular favourite due to the fact of the introduction of Vampire world into the mix. Brian vampires are simply amazing and I often wondered why he did not write solely vampire books, they would stand head & shoulders above any other current or past vampire books. Please Brian, if you are reading these reviews, please write more, your vision and storytelling is great!
Please get all remaining books converted to audiobooks ASAP!!!

Thrilling,Exciting,Gripping,Terrible & Engrossing

Part 3 of the Necroscope story sees the universe expand into new terrible dimensions.
Continuing the storyline of Harry Keogh, introducing some new characters and revisiting a few familiar. It's hard to stop listening and the only disappointment with this book is when it's over. May the production of part four be a speedy one.

Sad to see him go

Another great narration by James Langton for this series. He captures the dialects so perfectly and is a near perfect fit for the Necroscope series. It's a real shame he won't be continuing with the rest of the series. The Source is a fantastic piece of world building for the Necroscope world, pulling back the curtain to reveal the vampires' home world. While I prefer the ancient Dracula-esque Ferenczys, I think this is the entry that really sucked me into the series.

Masterful

I read this series when I was 12 after I already destroyed Stephen King novels. And it was just as gripping and well paced. The Performer has a great flare for the characters and it appears he was thrilled while reading. Great Novels hopefully the rest will be converted to Audible soon.
