So beautiful!!!

I was nervous going into this book thinking it was going to break me all over again. Those nerves were definitely not warranted! Yes, there were some parts that made me a little emotional because it brought back memories from book 1 but that was because book 1 touched my soul and will cause that reaction every time I think about it! Book 2 is emotional, but in a far different way. This is the story about forgiveness, growth, and discovering that it is okay to go after what you want. The characters in the book are do deep and insightful in ways I never expected. I cannot wait for the rest of the series to come out on audio!!!

Sarah Puckett did another fantastic job on this book! I swear I could listen to her books all day, every day! Her ability to give each character their own voice is truly amazing.

Here's to the book boyfriend.

Very much a romance book. With the focus on the lead male character and his band. What I liked was that the girl in this book loved book's. So she refers to him as a book boyfriend which I found very funny. There's a few sad moment's throughout the book. But a very enjoyable listening experience.

An amazing follow up novel

This is the second book I have listened to / read from the series. I must say that i was a little reluctant as I enjoyed the first novel so much and was scared that the sequel would take away some of the magic. Boy was I wrong to be worried !!! I love how this could be read as a standalone but in order to enjoy it to its top potential I would advise reading the first book ( my life as a country album) first. It is genius how the author has intertwined the two books and the reader gets to find out more about characters who were first introduced in the previous book. The story itself is as beautifully written and I also adore that it is the same narrator that reads the both. The pairing are fast becoming my new favourite writing team. I was given this book by the author/narrator in return for an honest and unbiased review

More than Words!

My Life as a Pop Album is an incredible listen! L J Evans was fantastic in writing this book with Mia as the focus, and with cameo appearances of Cam from My Life as a Country Album. I loved how heartfelt this story was, and how Mia learned to step out of her comfort zone. The author took tragedy and turned it into something wonderful. Learning to live after loss is a something I took from this book. Sarah Puckett performed this book brilliantly. Her emotions could be felt, and she brought the characters to life. She is the voice of "My Life as a ..." books. I loved how this book is both a standalone listen, and has overlapping characters from a previous book by the author. The imagery in this story is so well done. I could envision so much! The symbolism was incredible too! I highly recommend this listen. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator! Thank you Audiobook Obsession for this wonderful listen. I absolutely loved it!

LJ Evans and Sarah Puckett are my favorite team.

This book was everything. Mia and Derek's story was so heartwarming and sweet. Sarah Puckett has a way of breathing life into the author's words, to the extent that it was like a movie in my head. I was unable to put it down. It was really great to get Mia's story and be able to see more of her character... and Derek is my dream boyfriend. I wish more guys like him existed. What a fabulous ride.

Fun Love Story

L. J. Evans continued the story started in Country Album. And Sarah Puckett did a great job on the narration, bringing life to the characters. It continues with the story of Mia and how her life progressed following the loss of Jake. And how her meeting Derek helps her to realize that she is important.

Plus we still got to see what was happening with Cam and her new life.

While Country Album tore at my heart, Pop Album was a sweet love story.

Loved this!

Loved this emotional romance listen. Loved the characters and story. I really enjoyed getting a look at how the characters from My Life as a Country Album are doing. I would recommend listening to the books in this series in order, although it would probably be clear enough if you didn’t. Loved the narrator, she really captured the emotions and personalities of the characters. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Sweet story.

Sarah Puckett performed as I’ve come to expect her to, amazingly.

Mia had resigned herself to a life of safety and mediocrity but it was all blown to pieces when sweet, sexy, rocker-boy Derek entered her life. I love the adventure these two went on; their journey to love was sweet.

The Good Girl and The Book Boyfriend-I loved them!

*This is the second book in the My Life as an Album series and must be read after book one, unless you want spoilers!*

This is the second book I've read by LJ Evans and it just made me a forever fan. The first book in this series was outstanding but really broke my heart so I was wary to pick this one up. Thanks goodness I did! This had all the heart and soul that I loved about the first book without all of the ugly crying. Not to say I didn't shed a few tears, but they were mostly at the beginning and relating to events that happened in the first book. I absolutely adore the way the author sets up the chapters to songs. While the first book was all about Taylor Swift, this one gives us Ed Sheeran. I don't normally enjoy books with a low heat level, but this was done so well, (just like the previous book) I honestly didn't even miss he heat. Mia and Derek just made me smile and left me with a full heart.
Sarah Puckett's narration was just as wonderful in this one as it was in the first book. She is quickly becoming a favorite narrator of mine. I look forward to more of this series. Highly recommend!

My younger self might give it 4 stars

My biggest gripe with this story is that Mia is 22-years-old but acts/thinks much younger. I wanted to reach out and shake her and tell her to stop acting so insecure. This is particularly irritating since she presents herself at the beginning of the story as a professional, taking over her father's car dealership with all its attending responsibilities. I know that young professional women can be basket-cases of insecurity inside, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to shake those same women in real life! Ms. Evans' biography says she is the mother of a daughter, so I desperately hope that her future heroines will present with more self-confidence. My other tiny complaint is that the parents of said 22-year-old are made out to be nearing retirement and in need of careful handling. Sigh. That said, the story was interesting and flowed well, the surroundings were expertly conveyed (be it the Tennessee heat or the beauty of the underground caves), and BB (book-boyfriend, a nickname Mia uses internally when she first meets Derek), is most definitely swoon-worthy and deserving of the name. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Beautiful and Poignant

Soon as I finished book 1 of the series My Life As An Album I was ready for more of this world!

Mia’s narrative and version of events was not lost on me per se in book 1 but you don’t realize just how much everything affects her whole entire life until you get to this book. All edges of her life are affected by the events of book 1 in every way. To see her let her hair down and live a little was just what her character needs. Being pushed out of her comfort zone and facing some of her demons.

This series is unique in how it’s formed through a series of playlists while also poignant and beautiful.

Heartwarming

Can I just say this writer has a way of writing that just pulls the strings of my heart. This story follows Jake’s sister Mia. She feels so much guilt for what happened to Jake and never wants to do anything to cause her loved ones heartbreak ever again so she does everything she hopes they want. Mia gets the chance to take a trip with a handsome man. She is convinced to go along on a trip that helps her move on and find love again and maybe some happiness too. This also has a great narration that brings us along on the journey.

Awesome, Heartwarming Story

I received this audiobook free, as an Audiobook Obsession Reviewer, for an honest review. Although this story can be considered a standalone, you will understand it better if you read/listen to the previous book. It provides background to Mia's life and family. This story was outstanding. I loved every minute of it. Great Romance. I couldn't stop listening to it. The author did a wonderful job of creating a very heartwarming story, with it's romance and it's suspense. The narrator did an excellent job with the characters, male and female. The listener felt like they were right there with Mia and Derek. Loved the characters, especially the BBF. The way the author incorporates Ed Sheeran's songs it awesome.

Mia and Derek

I didn’t read the first installment of this series and didn’t feel I missed anything. It can definitely be read as a stand-alone. Mia is the ultimate “good girl,” always doing what is expected of her. After graduating from college, she moved back home to run the family business. Derek is the sexy, swoon worthy musician who turns her world upside down the day he enters her family’s business. Mia and Derek have and instant attraction. He further shakes up her world by asking her to go on tour with him and they spend three adventure-filled weeks on the road.
My life as a a Pop Album is a story about self discovery, love, guilt and forgiveness. It was beautifully written and Sarah Puckett did an amazing job bringing the characters to life.

Recommended for fans of My Life as a County Album

While you wouldn't have to read the first book to follow the story, several characters from it feature prominently and there are more than a few references to events in the first book. I would highly recommend reading My Life as a Country Album before My Life as a Pop Album.

I think the concept of relating chapters to songs brings more dimension to the story. I fully expected to recognize more of the songs in the pop version than in the country edition, however I'm apparently not familiar with the names or lyrics of many Ed Sheeran songs. Overall, I recognized 2 songs, though I suspect I would have recognized more if I heard the music.

Sarah Puckett did very well with the performance. With the tie in to music, I think would have been neat to feature the songs or sing the lyrics for the audio version.

Feel the music

LJ Evans does it again! My Life As a Pop Album picks up where My Life As a Country Album ended. This is Mia’s story. Mia’s brother Jake , who was a severe diabetic, died after she donated one of her kidneys to him in an effort to save his life. Her donated kidney failed, Jake died and she’s ridden with guilt and considers herself a failure for not being able to save him. Mia’s parents are auctioning off Jakes beloved Camaro for charity and have a famous band coming in to play at the auction. The lead singer of the band is Derek Waters. Mia is in charge of getting him to the venue and although she’s not thrilled with any of this, she does what’s asked because she’s good girl Mia, and always does the right thing. Derek flirts, Mia deflects and tries to ignore him.
Derek ends up winning the bid for Jakes car, much to Mia’s dismay. Derek manages to convince Mia to go spelunking with he and his band. Mia finds that she’s liking Derek more and she likes his band mates too.
Derek surprises her and asks her to help him drive Jakes car to California while making stops for scheduled concerts along the way. He also promises there will be more caving. Mia says no, but surprisingly, her Dad convinces her to go. She reluctantly agrees. This is so out of her comfort zone. How will she manage day after day in such close quarters with Derek? I loved this book! My heart hurts for Mia. She carries so much guilt over Jake, that’s she’s convinced she doesn’t deserve happiness in her life. Do not miss this book! And while your at it, make sure you pick up the first book , My Life As A Country Album. AudioBook Obsission Reviewer
