About this listen

When Sidney Marsh’s peaceful Saturday is interrupted by a call from Detective Wallace from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, she finds herself in the middle of a front-page murder case. A prominent businessman has been killed, and the murder was recorded on his phone, which should make for an open-and-shut case. But the more Sid and Detective Wallace learn, the less everything adds up.

After an arrest is made, Sid is convinced Detective Wallace has the wrong man, so she enlists the help of her friend, Kiera, to uncover the truth. Kiera welcomes the distraction from dealing with the return of her long-lost mother and unsettling realizations about the men in her life. Despite Detective Wallace’s objections, Sid and Kiera end up deep in the murder investigation and work together to sort through conflicting evidence and multiple motives to unravel the mystery. Will they be able to serve justice, along with tacos, in the small Georgia town, or will someone get away with murder?

I enjoyed this book. This is book four in the series and I think the main character from the previous books Kiera takes a step back in this book and most of the investigation is carried out by Sidney, an FBI language expert that we met in the previous book. That's not to say Kiera isn't there to lend a hand but she is busy dealing with the sudden appearance and complication of her mother's return. This means the book works as a standalone but I think it is better when read or listened to in order. I like the characters, especially as there back stories, Kiera's in particular, are so unusual and entertaining. The mystery was good and it took a number of twists as the story unfolded, which certainly kept me on my toes as I tried to figure out who the killer was. It was a cleverly thought out murder and story that kept me listening until the very last word. The author also include two recipes at the end of the book for you to enjoy your own pancakes. I can't wait for the next book.becomes

When the murder of rich business man is recorded on his phone, FBI language expert Sidney is called in to interrupt his last words. She is unable to help but does notice something that cracks the case. The only problem is the evidence doesn't seem to add up and Sidney fears they have arrested the wrong man. With the help of her friend Kiera, the pair sets out to find the real killer but can she really argue with the evidence? Especially as the man arrested is the most logical suspect, with the most to gain from the death.
I liked the narrator. Although I did struggle with some of the characters sounding the same. It was still an easy listen.

Brilliant narration from Jeff Moon, who brings the drama and mystery to your ears.

When you think you are going to have a quiet Saturday , a murder can change all of that. Sidney is asked to help my detective Wallace as being an FBI language expert, could help in the case. Kiera is there to help but is busy dealing with her mother’s return. A great mystery, with great twists.
Enjoyed the recipes at the end.

I just love this series, it provides a completely different insight into 'cosy' crime and I can just sit back and enjoy the narration. I do really like how the narrator just brings the story to life. This one could be read/listened as a standalone but as always you will get so much more out of the series.

Just love this series - it is so easy to listen to

I enjoyed this story! In Book 4, Kiera steps back a bit while Sidney, the FBI language expert, takes on most of the investigation. Kiera’s still around, but busy dealing with her mothers return. The mystery had some great twists, and while it could stand alone, it’s definitely better if you listen in order. Enjoyed the usual recipes at the end and the sneak peek at Book 5. Jeff Moon’s narration is spot on as always!
