About this listen

When Sidney and Kiera’s historic house tour is interrupted by a dead body, the investigation begins.

After Sid uncovers details of Henshaw House’s haunted past, she’s convinced a ghost is to blame. Kiera remains doubtful that their main suspect is a specter and decides to launch her own investigation, focused on suspects who still have a pulse.

While Sid enlists the help of a medium and a ghost hunter to reveal the secrets of the house’s spirits, Kiera relies on Marshal Ray Stark, Detective Wallace, and her own mother to help her uncover potential motives for murder.

Sid and Kiera must piece together what they learn from seances, ghost hunters, and old-fashioned detective work to solve the mystery. They won’t rest until they find the killer—whether they can actually handcuff the culprit remains to be determined.

Sydney and Keira have another mystery on their hands but is the murderer alive or a ghost. I love the way the ladies have opposing views on the supernatural. Another excellent mystery in the series.

I enjoyed this book. This is the fifth book in the series and I am still really glad I discovered the series. Each book can be read as a standalone but I think it works better when read as part of the series, especially as the main character is in such a unique situation. I like the characters and there little side dramas and interaction. The story is told by a number of them, which keeps you up to date with what is going in the investigation. This works well for the story, as it keeps it entertaining and the listener guessing. I must admit I would have accused the wrong person, although I was right with who the murder victim was. The haunted house was a good setting for another murder and meant the author could add a number of suspects and twists. Looking forward to the next book.

When Sidney and Kiera arrange a haunted house tour, they never expected to get caught up in another murder investigation. With so many deaths associated with the house, everybody is quick to blame the ghosts, even a medium and a ghost hunter get in on the act. The dead man wanted a night in the house, to see what the spirits could tell him but could one really want revenge on people who try to contact them? Kiera thinks it's more likely that a human is to blame and as its easier to arrest a human than an angry spirit, she enlists her friends to find a killer. What they find is another body, a trouble and dangerous history and even more secrets. Can Keria and Sidney uncover the truth before the ghost count raises again?
I like the narrator. He helps the story fly bye or it could just be once you start you don't want to stop.

A well-constructed, humourous, and twisty cozy mystery with vividly drawn characters. Kiera is fantastic, I love her relationship with Ray, and there is a charming community of side characters (Daisy!). Jeff Moon delivers another flawless performance.

A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.

Humourous and twisty.

This is a well-constructed, humorous cozy mystery with plenty of twists and turns. The characters are well drawn and engaging, and the story keeps a great pace throughout. Jeff Moon’s narration is excellent, as usual, bringing the humour and personalities to life perfectly. I’m very much looking forward to the next instalment.

Excellent.
