Summary
From the universe of the Until the End of the World series. (Note: The City Series can be heard before or after the Until the End of the World series)
Sylvie Rossi has the loner thing down pat, with the exception of her best friend, Grace. But when the two are trapped in a hospital during the last gasp of a dying city, alone time is no longer an option. A nurse's offer of sanctuary promises Sylvie the supplies she needs to survive the zombies - it's the coexisting with people that might do her in.
Eric Forrest will do whatever it takes to get into the dead city for his sister, including ending up dead himself. He's used to taking risks, but with every mile he travels death looks likelier and likelier, and finding his sister may be his only prospect for survival - if he can make it home.
Sylvie doesn't need more than food, water, and shelter. Eric wants only to find his sister. But sometimes what we think we need isn't what we need at all, and what we find is more than we expected.

Great story let down by female narration
I read and enjoyed the previous series and I enjoyed this book too. However the female narrator was really distracting with how she over emphasised everything. She read every sentence like there was impending doom every second, which meant that it became monotonous and distracting because there was little difference between the truly exciting parts and the more mundane. Her words were jarring and annoying rather than leading the story and letting me decide what we’re the exciting bits. The male narrator was good.

Excellent
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book, I have listened to the other series by (this author) so I know what she can and does do to her characters. This time the book is narrated by two people. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it feels odd. This worked for me. They kept to their own gender it worked. So even when we are hearing from Eric if a female talks Plummer will narrate that part. I expected to hear from Eric sooner than I did. But thankfully we didn’t go backwards in time. (I don’t think) we started the new world with Sylvie and when we left her to hear from Eric we carried on around the same time. We didn’t go back and start the end of the world again through his eyes. It worked. Both narrators do an excellent job of voice acting and can be heard clearly over headphones and Bluetooth speakers.
