Summary

In 2007, comedian and broadcaster Dermot Whelan arrived into a comedy festival in an ambulance. It was a hell of an entrance. He’d had a panic attack in Mullinavat. It was not pleasant. So, he became a meditation teacher and learned to destress without annoying the emergency services.

Now, after becoming one of the country’s leading corporate stress management experts, Dermot asks the question, 'What do we do when our minds are full?'

This audiobook is his no nonsense, incense-free, hilarious guide to calming the f--k down. No ambulance required!

Shur give it a go

Really enjoyed this book. Have tried meditating in the past but didn't fully click with it. This has re motivated me to try again & I'm enjoying it! There's humour thrown in & plenty of life experience stories that loads of people can relate to. Dermot sounds nice natured, kind & caring & you honestly feel like you have a friend chatting away in your ear. It's a lovely book written from the heart.

I thought I was buying a book on meditation...

I bought this book thinking it was going to enlighten me on the benefits of meditation and how to master it. However, I had to give up after 3 chapters. I've never been a fan of Dermot Whelan's humour and that proved a problem for me with this book. The first few chapters were more a memoir of how his career started, told in a jokey way that just irked me. I had a look at the index at that point and saw I would have to wait until chapter 8 to get to what meditation is about. Unfortunatley this wasn't the book for me.

I'll recommend thisto anyone who'll listen to me !

I love this book. Dermot Whelan has made the Whys, the Hows and the What's it all about of meditation enjoyable and achievable. RPM and SAW. I loved hearing Dermot's personal story, his non airy fairy style of communicating, his just enough sciencey bits. The list of excuses for not doing meditation was like the go to list I already had in my head 😀 It was also very refreshing to hear his work wife, Dave's, heartfelt description of the man that is Dermot, and the love that is there for whatever version of Dermot he has experienced. Life changing read.

Wonderfully simplistic and funny

This book is the best one I've listened to in a long time. Dermot really simplifies the process of meditation and properly explains, so simply, how it actaully works. Highly recommended for those who really want to explore a new holistic angle on stress relief and get a good insight into what meditation is actually about. The book comes with a great dash of humour and eliminates the complicated jargon that usually tends to accompany meditation theories. I haven't had a book grab my attention this much in awhile and I would highly recommend it to everyone, including those who believe they have their shit together. I will definitely be listening to it again and again and I'm glad to say that it's made me 100% more cognisant and proactive about fitting it into my daily routine. Bravo Dermot. Can't wait for the next book.
