Summary

In 2007, comedian and broadcaster Dermot Whelan arrived into a comedy festival in an ambulance. It was a hell of an entrance. He’d had a panic attack in Mullinavat. It was not pleasant. So, he became a meditation teacher and learned to destress without annoying the emergency services.

Now, after becoming one of the country’s leading corporate stress management experts, Dermot asks the question, 'What do we do when our minds are full?'

This audiobook is his no nonsense, incense-free, hilarious guide to calming the f--k down. No ambulance required!

I thought I was buying a book on meditation...

I bought this book thinking it was going to enlighten me on the benefits of meditation and how to master it. However, I had to give up after 3 chapters. I've never been a fan of Dermot Whelan's humour and that proved a problem for me with this book. The first few chapters were more a memoir of how his career started, told in a jokey way that just irked me. I had a look at the index at that point and saw I would have to wait until chapter 8 to get to what meditation is about. Unfortunatley this wasn't the book for me.

Shur give it a go

Really enjoyed this book. Have tried meditating in the past but didn't fully click with it. This has re motivated me to try again & I'm enjoying it! There's humour thrown in & plenty of life experience stories that loads of people can relate to. Dermot sounds nice natured, kind & caring & you honestly feel like you have a friend chatting away in your ear. It's a lovely book written from the heart.

I have been practicing meditation for a while now and this was just a perfect book to lock everything into place.

Demystifying meditation for normal people

I really liked this book and have integrated 10 mins of meditation into my mornings, after many failed attempts over the years. I loved the Irish humour and the practical down to earth approach which explained the benefits of meditation and how to do it, without the mysticism or spiritual culture that can often accompany the practice. I'm feeling improvements to my mood and stress levels and would recommend this book to everyone.

Brilliant book filled with relatable stories and incredible tips and guidance for anyone on their meditation journey.

I’ve been meditating on and off for 7 years now and have loved the calm it’s brought into my life. But I’m wishy washy! This book was filled with so many lightbulb moments for me, I think I’ve finally gotten to the place where I now am ready, actually, I’m deserving of enjoying a meditation every day. Thank you dermot, yes you’re brilliant on the radio with Dave, but here…here, you’ve excelled.
I can’t recommend this book enough to anyone on any part of your meditation journey. I just wish there was a kids version….hint hint dermot…
Much love, Cliodhna in Houston, Texas.
