I am sincerely disappointed in this second book.

I, in no means try to say that I know better and my feedback should be consider as any other. But I can tell that at least the second half lost some of the complexity that made this story intriguing. Or maybe it's has continued with the same amount of complexity, and jumping in a new environment as the protagonist trains to become a mage/swordsman throws the story on it's head because there were introduced paper thin characters, and the overall day-to-day feels dull because there's not much noteworthy happening.. and when something does happen it's not quite right because the build up stage is boring.

I did love though how you could see the same action happening from 2 different perspective, for example like when the protagonist defends himself from the sneak attack and then you see his teacher contemplating his actions.

It was a bit of a struggle to finish it, all things considered.
