Story
"Dude! It finally came!" My roommate barely withheld his excitement as he barreled into the living room of our apartment with a package in his hand. "Check it out, Jacob." He smiled as he tore at the brown paper surrounding his purchase. As he ripped the covering off the package, bits and pieces scattered all across the floor of the living room like confetti. For a second, I thought about lecturing Todd about not making a mess of our apartment, but who was I kidding? This place was already a shithole. At least some half-assed confetti would make it feel a little livelier.

The lizard Demi-Human lord is quick to welcome Evan, but his stoic mage of a sister tells Evan she isn’t impressed with him. Average at best.
There are some good bits in the book, and I may check out book two, as often things that are wrong with book one are fixed in second books of a series. For example, I found the MC pretty annoying. He is quite egotistical, arrogant and sleazy while thinking he is suave and charming. For example he feels like berating a couple of guards for checking out the girl he is with while spending most of his time leering at her various body parts himself, even telling how he ass is so tight he could bounce a quarter off it. This is the same day he meets her by the way.
I think was really got me though was he gets the chance to go to a world of magic and fantasy, and as soon as he gets there he starts producing earth weapons. Not to mention swearing to a king he has never met, a kingdom he has no idea of it's intentions, a mage he doesn't like or trust and plans to give those same weapons to them too. All this is before he even thinks it might be really needed for hem to have them too. I really wish he would live long enough to see the millions he will get killed because of his actions.
The magic system it dull with nothing new about it, and would likely be made utterly pointless by his introduction of firearms to a world where mages are not exactly numerous. I'd have been fine with it if he kept the secret to himself or a tight group, but as it is he will make a fantasy world of swords and magic empty.
As I said there are good points, but the down sides to it made it a 2.5 out of 5 book when compared to other fantasy fiction or litrpg books.

Couldn't listen anymore after 3 hours.
First let me say the voice acting is fine. Not great but definitely good enough to make you believe they are different people.
And that's about it for the good news. Everything else was either absolutely horrid or almost approached OK.
The worst part is the main character. There is nothing likable about him. He starts off telling you he always knew he didn't belong and had a special destiny. Then a goddess plucks him from Modern Earth and tells him exactly that, confirming his specialness all along.
She then drops him off in a high fantasy world where, to no surprise, he has innate magic. That would be OK if he didn't ask for help learning how to control this power, then get pissed off every single time someone even kinda mentions he has no training. At one point he is taken to the most powerful order of magic on the planet, to the head of the order no less. Does he act humble? Is he grateful for the audience? Happy to be given a chance to learn? Triple no.
It was like watching a highschool student tell a PHD I know more than you... after you just asked them to teach you. That's how it came across.
I had to give up after three hours.

the character to me canenoff as a tad bit arrogant and without reason to be. and this soured the whole story becuase of that, but other readers might not find him to be so, and thus the book will be more appealing to them.

MC kind of a douche
To start, the book is worth the read. It's a good story, fairly well written, let's call it a bit above par for the genre.
having said that, the MC is full of himself to the nth degree from the beginning. I get that there's supposed to be friction between him and Abris from the get-go, but this is a master magus with decades of experience and the MC is a raging dick about how his instruction is too boring from the very beginning.
Yes, MC, yes it is. Testing and learning literally anything involves learning the fundamentals first. Maybe asking for instruction and then immediately complaining about how you're being instructed isn't the way to endear yourself with... well, anyone. if you don't know shit, maybe trust that the guy who DOES has some idea of how to import that knowledge.

Meh
Love the narrators. They have a lot of personality and group dynamic. The story is somewhat thin and the main character, in my personal opinion, is overly arrogant. Although a kind character, the arrogance in his attitude kind of rubs me off the wrong way. Like a jock trying to be good but failing at it. Most of his thoughts are 60% sex drive , 30% logic and kindness, 10% arrogance. Im surprise these strong willed women find him charming, with his shallow flirting. It just happens with little to no reason for it to happen.
The story has very few twist and depths.

I wanted to like this book. The concept was interesting, but the main character was frustrating and annoying. The MC knew so much he didn't evolve, basically no character building. The narrators were good and the only reason I was able to continue the story. This may be the first book I have returned to Audible.

*inhale* Boring
The problem with is book is nothing happens but at the same time everything happens. What I mean by that is there isn't a plot for at least half the book, so in order to fill up pages we get a bunch of filler. But what makes that even worse is that the 2 main characters don't get any development. Their archetypes are just MC and girl. I encourage everyone to look further because this book is just boring.
