Summary

Ask the best leaders in any organization how they learned to be successful, and you often hear the same answer: They had good mentors. Now, international leadership expert John Maxwell gives the bottom line on mentoring in one short, easy-to-listen-to volume.

In Mentoring 101 he gives the steps needed to effectively reproduce your success in someone else. He explains how to choose the right person to mentor, how to create the right environment for leaders to thrive and grow, and how to get started.

What if you spent your entire life achieving but never shared your wisdom with anyone else? Don't let your success end with you. As a mentor you can create a legacy that will last long after you are done listening.

The guidelines to mentorship

The best content packed book I have come across in terms of the what and how of mentorship. John Maxwell is cited as the Guru of leadership, and this is clear proof why he can boast for that title. The narrator does not do the book justice though; for me this book required someone with a deep, passionate voice and that was missing crucially. Nevertheless, it still remains a must-listen for anyone who is already mentoring or looking to start as a mentor - this work should be an essential part of your library.

Dated and preachy

It may have been useful once; attempts to be inspirational but overuses 'always' and 'never', which on second thought....Overlooks the power of context; in my view, rather than thoughtful and instructive is preachy.

This book was a total wast of time.

I was looking for a book far different from this one - it covers mentoring from a 60k foot view without any real substance. I would like a refund to buy a different book.

It's like listening to a comprehensive giude

It's like all my best leadership lessons rolled into one, explained, gaps filled in, and added to. a great reconciliation between what I had learned in secular leadership rolls and Discipleship principles from Christianity.

Fairly basic overview

A short book that serves as a basic outline of serving as a mentor. A good introduction.

Good start

This book glosses over a lot of the theory and might not be more than what already comes naturally to you as a leader. However, if you find leading difficult or is new to you, this is a good place to start!

Love love love!!!

It was life changing. Mentoting others is a win-win situation and the journey is better with others in it. Celebrating others heals and takes out the competition. Just another wonderful book by John Maxwell.
