If you have listened to the previous 8 books you may have felt it ran out of steam at book 8. I'm glad to report this is not the case. it's a great read with a cliffhanger to ensure you start volume 10 asap !!

As always the characters are carefully crafty, the dialogue is wry and realistic, the fight scenes exciting and gory. Fronto crosses the Pyrenees and all hell breaks out. There were a few places towards the end where suspension of belief was tested but it doesn’t detract from Fronto’s character, he carries it off with aplomb.

Excellent story my only down on it is that it does stay with Caesar. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Didn’t make any sense in most parts , small groups beat large armies then large armies beaten by small groups??? Just didn’t get it
