About this listen

An alien dragon king meets his fated mate in a woman from Earth. With conflict brewing in the kingdom, will he be forced to make a heartbreaking choice?

Bella: When I came to the subterranean kingdom of Driegon as a mail-order bride, I didn’t expect the dragon king to sweep me off my feet, take flight, and claim me as his mate. He says a mythical mating ritual called the Torrent proves we’re fated. Yeah, sure. Then I find out he’s almost engaged. He insists he’ll find a way for us to be together, but I’ve fallen for pretty lies before, and I won’t give my heart again easily.

Malac: To end a war among the factions of my Driegon people, I must marry the daughter of a rival warlord. I’ve accepted my fate. Until I meet Bella, one of three Earthlings brought to my kingdom as mail-order brides. One touch, and my blood roars through me - the first sign of the Torrent. We’re fated and I ache to claim her, yet I cannot betray my people. But the heart of a dragon will not be denied.

Malac is book 1 in the Brides of Driegon series. This standalone, full-length story has in-the-book heat, aliens who look and act alien, a guaranteed happily ever after, no cheating, and no cliffhanger.

The world building was extensive and interesting and I liked the concept of predestined soulmates. The hot scenes between FMC and the King were 🌶🌶. But I had a hard time relating to or liking the FMC. She is needy, clingy, creaking and validation seeking and completely lacking in common sense from time to time. Above all, I don't understand that she signs up for a mail order bride program and then she fights the attraction for her mate. Also, how on earth can she not get it into her head that if her mate is the King, she is the Queen. She IS a Drama Queen alright! Then the fact that she constantly compares Malac to her pathetic cheeting human ex-boyfriend without to understand the difference between the Earth culture and Driegon rubs me the wrong way. For 3 weeks she traveled to a new planet and civilization to marry an alien but she hasn't put the slightest effort into learning more about the new world's traditions she is moving to. By the way if The Torrent is inevitable and it decides about your destinated soulmate how can you take it back in the same sentence and say that the King should have a marriage of convenience with a person who is not his soulmate after he has already met his destinate soulmate. That sounds EXTREMELY ILLIOGICAL, impossible to implement and absurd. It's like you falsely promote a concept and then take back everything you have previously said about it. Just saying! I liked the narration, it was good and the narrators are good.

The teknologi vs animals they use on Driegon in ordinarie life.

The first but not the last. I enjoyed it and yes it is similar to others but I like the characters and world building.

I tried this story halfway, but I couldn't manage with the female narrator sounding so emotionless and robotic.
