About this listen

Shit You Should Care About was launched as a WordPress blog by three best friends in the back of a political science lecture. Today it's a global ecosystem of content - two podcasts, 3.5 million Instagram followers and a daily newsy. They are your culture vultures, news agents and (reluctant) agony aunts all rolled into one.

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE is a collage of cultural analysis, anecdotes, personal essays, poems, and lists, interplayed like a conversation between friends. So sharp they'll make you wince, so honest that you might feel uncomfortable with what's reflecting back at you, so funny you'll want to take a photo and send it to your best friend.

It's the bedside table essential for women who've felt their way through life and want that experience reflected back at them. When everything feels like it's whooshing away in an endless scroll, MAKE IT MAKE SENSE holds the answers (or questions) to what to do with all these big feelings.©2024 Annabel Hawkins and SYCA Media Ltd

Critic reviews

'A force for good in the world. An incredibly smart and funny force for good' (Dolly Alderton)
'I'm in awe of the community these girls have built with SYSCA - and now they add a tender, wise and genuinely helpful book into the mix. What joy! Chuck a copy at every Gen Z-er in your life, immediately' (Pandora Sykes)

I don’t know why but the comment about the orchid flowering after a ‘year of being a stick’ made me laugh out loud.
I’ve been a long time receiver of the newsy and followed SYSCA for even longer! This book was everything I hoped it would be. I have bookmarked so many sections and can’t recommend it enough.

Lucy & Bel write this book in such a relatable and so beautiful way. It’s like having a conversation with friends. An incredible read for anyone else leaving their 20s in early the early 20s as well as the younger generation turning 20 in the early 20s. A vital read.
