Summary

Colin Campbell had been a champion all his life. Nothing had ever beaten him, not even a drug lord’s bullet. And he approached law school the same way he approached everything in life, with cocky confidence fizzing through his veins like ginger ale. He had it all. He had the looks, the brains, the experience, the know-how and he also had the love of his life at his side. He couldn’t be defeated.

But he hadn’t counted on the gravitas of law school, the reading, the preparation, the cases, the competition, the Socratic Method, the concepts, the grading curve, the expectations, the finals, memos, study groups, outlines...all of it piled and heaped upon those preparing for a career as an attorney until it wasn’t surprising that some of them simply imploded under the weight of it all.

Suddenly Colin was spinning out of control, scrambling to keep up, rarely ever seeing Joshua. His grades slumped as he tried desperately to balance the opposing forces in his life, but his only solution was stretching himself thinner and thinner, until he feared he’d be torn in two. Joshua pleaded with him to slow down, but Colin refused to lighten his load and the path before them grew darker and darker.

They’d been through so much and survived. Would law school be the storm they could not weather? Would it do what a drug lord’s bullet could not - hand Colin Campbell the bitter defeat he never believed he’d have to face?

Or would the man he loved find a way to draw him back from the abyss.

True love overcomes

🌟🌟🌟🌟 4.5 stars
🔥🔥🔥 Heat Level: 3.5
🎧🎧🎧🎧 Narration: 4.5

I love Colin and Joshua and was so glad to read their next story.

I love the complete realness of Janice's writing. These are real-life struggles with honesty, real challenges, and truth. Josh and Colin could be (and even feel) real and the challenges they face in this new life direction are real and raw. I like that there's no "sugar coating" just real life and true love. I love the rationale, the ups and downs and the truth that depression and anxiety can happen to anyone at any stage of life.

I love Josh and Colin and look forward to sharing more of their lives in their next story!!

Their journey is realistic and I loved how they dealt with their vulnerability, feelings, and each troubling situation as Colin suffers from the Law School Churn. Their love ends up being even stronger because of all they've gone through and while I feel for Josh during this story I love his strength and trust to always be there for Colin no matter what! Another beautiful story. I loved all these characters and can’t wait for more.

(I will again say can we please have Trent’s story too 😉 I want to experience his relationship as they become a part of Colin and Josh's found family!)

Colin and Josh are back!

I have loved this author’s work from the beginning. Colin and Josh pulled me in. Colin with his cocky Irish charm and no-nonsense attitude. Josh with his loving heart and his desire to help other people. Josh is a counsellor and it brought him into conflict with Colin and things were pretty heated, but soon the men realized they were attracted to each other. That attraction soon morphed into more and despite their differences – or perhaps because of them – they fell in love.

Next came the realities of the relationship. Josh has a stressful job and Colin’s a cop. He was there for the Charlottesville riots and the level of hatred Colin witnessed had a profound impact on him. Then he got shot and nearly died. That nearly broke Josh who wanted to be supportive but also struggled to keep his stubborn Irishman from pushing too hard in rehab. Colin is disdainful of weakness and his biggest fear is that Josh not see him as completely competent.

When the lustre falls away from being a cop, and Colin realizes Josh will never be comfortable with Colin’s career again, a new challenge emerges.

Law School.

And Colin isn’t just going to finish a three-year program in two years, he’s going to be the best. No matter the cost – to him personally or to his relationship with Josh.

Josh is all-in. He’s supportive of Colin’s new passion but watching his husband fall apart isn’t part of the marriage vow he can abide by. It’s not an easy go and more than once I wanted to knock some sense into the Irishman.

I had worried about an entire book being about law school. Certainly no action to be found here. But there was conflict. Conflict from all sides. Poor Colin just couldn’t seem to catch a break – although a lot of it was self-inflicted. I enjoyed the book. This is the first book in a new series and I can’t wait to see where it goes next.

And I’ll mention narrator Walker Williams. He’s perfect for the series and I can’t imagine anyone else doing such a great job. Can’t wait for the next one.

Great book to listen to.

Love's Lawyer is beautifully written and the perfect addition to this series.

STORY: 4.5 STARS
Love's Lawyer is the first book in the Fearless Heart series, but it is also the next book in the continuing saga of Josh and Colin. And it is probably my new favorite story in this series. Well-written with amazing main characters as well as a great supporting cast, the book will pull you in and hold your attention until the last page. It has the right amount of angst, emotion, romance...a combination I've come to expect from Janice Jarrell. The characters become real, and you don't want to let them go. On top of that all is the interactions, dialogue, and the heat. Whew! Did I mention they are steamy together?

NARRATION: 5 STARS
Walker Williams has once again brought the continuing story of Josh and Colin to life. He gives each character their own voice, and the flow is spot on. I love listening to him.

OVERALL: 5 STARS
Rounding up to 5 stars. The story is amazing and the narration adds to it. Josh and Colin didn't have the best start, but they have gone through trials and tribulations, and they have always overcome, standing beside each other. Love's Lawyer brings new challenges into their lives, and as usual, they don't cope well. They learn to adapt though. I loved this story and couldn't stop listening until I reached the end. I'm already wanting the next book in the series. 5 stars and I highly recommend you pick it up yourself. One-click today!

I loved the book and I loved the audiobook even mo

I read Love’s Lawyer back in May of 2020 and I loved it. I knew then that the only thing that could make me love it more was if Walker Williams performed the audiobook like he has for the other books that Janice Jarrell has written. I was so happy to get the opportunity to listen to this audiobook. Unless he also does audiobooks under another name, the books for Janice Jarrell are the only ones I can find on Audible that he’s done.

I really can’t say enough good things about Walker’s performance. I love the voices he uses and I love the emotions he puts into the words; he has really made Janice Jarrell’s books even more special than they were when I read them.

Below is what I wrote after I read the book last year.

If you don't like books with lots of hot loving and terms of endearment then you might as well stop reading now. Love's Lawyer is such a great story and it's full of hot sexy time between Josh and Colin.

It's story that was sometimes hard to read as Colin tried to adapt to life as a student and the pressure of law school. He really struggled at times and did not welcome Josh's help when he tried to give it. Colin sets nearly unreasonable standards for himself and it comes close to being his undoing.

Josh tries his best to be supportive but he can only take so much. When things finally come to a head, he has to make Colin understand what he's doing to himself and to them. With the help of their friends, Nate and David things get better.

Love's Lawyer is full of all kinds of feels and it brought me to tears more than once. It ends with John and Colin in a good place but I know there is more to come for these two and I can't wait to read the next book.

A copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author or narrator.

A New Chapter in Life for Josh and Colin

Married couple Joshua and Colin have recently been through a life-altering experience. In his job as a college police officer, Colin, shot in the line of duty, is now retired from the force. He decides to pursue a law degree. How will this new and different stressor affect Colin? Can Joshua help Colin when it looks like things aren’t going well?

The book does a nice job of portraying Colin and Josh as every-man characters. They’re relatable and real-life, with problems that anyone can identify with. Ultimately though, their characterizations are uneven. They exhibit flip-flopping extremes in behavior that left me questioning who they are. A lot of their behaviors can't be explained away as easily as this book describes, in my opinion.

Both men come off as immature. If their ages had been put at early-20s instead of early-30s, I would have accepted the heavy angst more readily. Both Colin and Josh tend to make mountains out of mole hills in a lot of situations.

I like the dialogue when Josh and Colin are discussing mundane things, but the dramatic conversations tend toward being overwrought and cliche. And, speaking of cliche, there are constant references to Colin’s ‘Irish ire’. I don’t agree with this author’s tendency to excuse Colin’s anger issues by blaming his heritage.

I really enjoyed Walker Williams’ performance as narrator. His ability for distinct character voices is top-notch.

This audiobook was given to me as a free review copy, that I received upon request. These are my voluntary opinions of it.

Love's Lawyer by Janice Jarrell is the first book in The Fearless Heart series.  Collin and Joshua experience more trials and tribulations in their journey through life together, but their love story is strong and beautiful.  Lots of emotion and heat.  Loved it!  Walker Williams does a wonderful narration job, with a clean recording and a n enjoyable voice performance.

Colin and Joshua

Walker Williams has a great voice, easy to listen too and he does a good job voicing all the characters. Thanks for drawing me into this story.
Janice Jarrell sure can tell a story.
David, Nate, Trent and Jeff, a great support group for Colin and David, and boy did they need it at times. Hopefully, we will see them all in the upcoming books.
Josh and Colin had plenty of trouble and turmoil, just when you think the road is smooth, another bump pops up and shit hits the fan.
Really great start to a new series, Plenty of steaming Hot Love/sex scenes. I look forward to listening to more. Definitely can be listened to as a standalone. Well worth the credit and your time to listen for sure..

When you neeed some drama

It was great to catch up and follow along with Colin and Joshua's continuing story. Love's Lawyer was definitely more dramatic and intense than even Love's Trials of the Revolutionary Heart series. I was totally biting my nails because the stress just kept building and building and building until boom! [no spoilers here] All I can say is you get a group of personalities like a reality show...you get the drama. I looooooved Nate and David for being Colin and Joshua's support and for giving them the kick in the booty that they both need at times throughout. Walker Williams' narration as always is supremely appreciated for being so precise and enunciated well that even at 2.75x speed, every syllable and ending consonant is crisp, clear and so pleasant to the ear..

Challenging True Love!

When I hear that there is a new Colin and Josh Audible book my heart does its elated happy dance. I instantly fell in love with these two when I first listened to Janice Jarrell's first book about them. While the books can be read as standalones, don't miss out on this breathtaking love story. These stories deal with contemporary issues that realistically face people in today's world. In this story Colin who has always conquered life's challenges over estimates the difficulties of law school. His biggest battle is admitting this to himself. This proves to be a problem for him mentally and physically as well as for his marriage.I love how the author realistically shows the listener the effects this has on Colin, Josh, and their friends. Josh has the patience of Job. At times I would get frustrated with Josh because he seemed too passive with Colin, but he obviously knows Colin so much better than I do. They both have such wonderful friends to help them. Everyone needs a David and Nate in their corner. There are also several passionate love scenes that will have you feeling so warm inside.

Walker Williams does a phenomenal job of portraying the myriad of emotions that these characters experience. He gives them their own distinctive voices and brings them to life. Walker makes the listener feel part of the story. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS AUDIBLE BOOK FOR YOUR LISTENING PLEASURE. Their love is enduring and endless.

Very Enjoyable

Love's Lawyer is a wonderful addition to the continuing story of Colin and Joshua. I love this book and connection Colin and Joshua have. They are really there for each other no matter what. Colin and Joshua have been through a lot and when Colin decides to go to law school it really does a number on his mental health. This is an emotional story that tests the human spirit. I recommend this book and starting from the beginning with Love's Magic. Definitely recommend.
Narrator Walker Williams does a marvelous job.

Frustrating how emotional I get

10/10 I would read this again and recommend to friends. The writing is so good that sometimes I forget im reading a book and I feel like I'm watching a drama series on Netflix or something. And the characters are so well done that you do feel like they're your friends. If you are familiar with Josh and Collin (and you sound be or else go back and do the other books first) then you know what to expect, Joshua's level headed empathy and Colin's stubborn charm. To me no other book will compare to the Charlottesville scene or the wedding scene in earlier books so I can't say this is my favorite of the series but I promise it's right up there in terms of quality. At times you just wanna yell at josh for being so passive and then you realize his compassion and empathy were the right approach. And sometimes you just wanna smack Collin for being so difficult but then you remember that his big heart is in the right place. You just can't help but love these two and want them to succeed. Joshua is a better man than I for sticking with this marriage with how many bumps it's had. and Collin is insane for taking on so much at once. you end up realizing that they work through REAL LIFE problems in a healthy way and it's interesting and well written. I love that nothing toxic is sensationalized or romanticized. Even if these two are super corny romantic with each other. #couplegoals. I was just so glad when Josh put his foot down at the station and when Collin lost it at his group. And noone worry there's still plenty of romantic and steamy scenes in this book, it's not all just serious life drama. But honestly, thankyou to the author for bringing back romance and making healthy relationships an interesting and ideal relationship goal.

Fantastic story!!

This was my first story by Janice Jarrell I had ever read! This was fantastic getting to listen to it, the narrator brought Josh and Colin's voices to life. It had all the feels, sooo emotional. Colin is a strong overachieving man and is stronger having Joshua at his side. Joshua is a super supportive husband. I loved their story. I could easily listen to this several times. I've now listened to several of Walker Williams narrations and I think each one gets even better than the previous!
