About this listen

My life is basically a three-item to-do list:

1. Keep my eight-year-old daughter happy.

2. Keep my job at the elementary school.

3. Keep my big, scary dream of being a full-time artist locked up where it can’t break my heart.

Easy. Manageable. Drama-free.

And then Fisher Wright strolls into Star Falls.

Tall. Charming. British. The kind of dangerously attractive that should come with a warning label—or maybe a hazmat suit in my size. He’s here for eight weeks, helping a famous music superstar record her next album.

We have one harmless, flirty conversation at the local bar.

Then it’s wine on my porch.

Then stolen kisses by the falls.

Then… oh no, actual feelings. The big, messy, life-complicating kind I swore I didn’t have time for.

But his life is in New York. Mine is here. And long-distance fairytales? Please. They don’t come true — especially when there’s a kid involved.

So why is he making secret plans to get my art in front of Manhattan’s elite?

Why am I suddenly imagining him at my daughter’s soccer games?

And why does it feel like the only temporary thing here… is the eight-week expiration date we agreed on?

Small-town slow burn. Single mom sunshine and a grumpy Brit. Steamy porch kisses. And one very inconvenient, very irresistible love.

I’m here, fanning myself after listening to Shane East say some… things and orders whilst narrating certain scenes with a lot of enthusiasm… fan, fan, fan.

Loved Juniper and Fisher, the way they met, the flirting, the development of their story from acquaintances to friends with benefits- they never created false hope to each other but were able to spend quality time on and off the smexy times.
When they finally succumbed to the love they felt for each other I was so happy for them, for believing that there’s more outside of their comfort zone.

Shane East and Samantha Brentmoor were incredible bringing Fisher and Juniper to life.

Louise Bay makes me happy. I looked back to my reviews of her books, and it seems like I always use this phrase to describe how one of her books made me feel and I find that very telling because I know there have been circumstances in her stories that I haven’t loved or have made me twitchy, but somehow, she makes me happy! Her stories always have this feelgood vibe to them with a well balanced storyline. It was no different with Love Deep except that this time, how she decided to characterize the MFC was less than enthusiastic for me. Honestly, I wanted to slap her silly. Having Samantha Brentmoor perform her character was a huge help for me because there’s just something about Samantha where she can make the twitchiest of twitches not seem twitchy at all LOL. But I digress. So, Juniper (our MFC) is going to test you. I don’t want to give too much detail about her journey away, but let’s just say she was not the most open minded (fictional) person I have ever come across. *deep breath* lol

Overall, this story is very entertaining with Louise’s signature style and voice laced deeply in the story. I really like this universe she has created where she combines “city” and “smalltown” vibes in a smalltown setting. I like that there was an instant “connection” between Juniper & Fisher and yet their journey was more of a slow-burn. I really enjoyed Fisher’s connection and investment in Riley as well. Now, if only Juniper wouldn’t have been so darn stubborn …

I’d like to say that if I “read” this story rather than “listen” to it that I would feel the same about it, but I honestly cannot say that. Samantha Brentmoor and Shane East’s performances were so good that I was lost to their voices from the beginning. There’s something that happens when you listen to an audiobook with such talented narrators. Anything twitchy just seems to go right over your head “in the moment” and it turns a story on a dime. That can also happen in the reverse, but for this book, they made the twitchy not so twitchy! I don’t think that would have been the case had I read the story and I honestly may have put it aside and come back to it much much later. *shrug*

Taking everything into consideration, I still feel good about rating my experience a solid 3.5 stars rounding up to 4 stars easily for vendor sites.

Love Deep is a small town, cosy, comfort read with all the feels. It leads us through the ups and downs of single parenthood, forgotten life dreams, and a love affair with an end date. From the moment they meet you can feel a special kind of chemistry between Fisher and Juniper. Then there’s also Riley, who’s the sweetest kid. With lots of cameos from beloved characters, spice and steam, Love Deep is an enthralling read that’s brought to life by the fantastic narrators!

I love it!

Whilst this is a standalone, a lot of other characters appear from other series which is great to see, but you do not feel like you've missed anything if you haven't read the other books.

Juniper puts her daughter first, as she should, but sometimes it felt like she was a martyr to being a single mum. Completely dismissing that she could do things for herself as well as her daughter - this frustrated me a few times throughout the book.

Fisher was an absolute sweetheart, so understanding with both his business clients and also with Juniper and 8-year-old Riley. He knew what to do and say to keep everyone at ease. I loved the relationship he has with his friends and partners.

They have amazing chemistry and agree to an 8-week timeline, but feelings get in the way, and when they part, they both feel the separation.

I wanted so much more details with Gerry, it was dangled throughout the story but then dealt with in one conversation...... I wanted to know what happened next!

We spend so much time with them as they fall in love that I felt the wrap-up at the end was just too quick.

🎧 I love Shane East's accent (as a fellow Brit), it was so refreshing to listen to an accent that wasn't "posh" or upper class, but as this was a duel narration, during 'Junipers' chapters he ended up with a 'posh' accent and it was a little offputting switching between the two, it almost felt felt like they were two different characters. I enjoyed Samantha Brentmoor as Juniper, she definitely brought the character to life.

Who doesn't love a billionaire/small town/single mom combo? I sure do and this one was a perfect mix of them all.

Juniper's life is centered around her daughter and job, her dream was to paint but she can only do that in her spare time now.

Fisher is in town only for a while, as a music studio owner he will stay only long enough for the newest album to be complete and then he will be back to his life in New York, starting sometime with someone in town is the last thing he expected.

Juniper can't invest in a new relationship but a fling that is definitely something she can do, especially because the chemistry between them is hotter than the sun.

I really enjoyed all the shared moments they got to spend together and especially how Fisher was with her daughter, he got a protective side that was wonderful to witness.

I am loving this small town and all the billionaires that are visiting, and I can't wait for the next one.

I got to listen to the audiobook and it was a treat, I definitely recommend listened to it,
Samantha Brentmoor and Shane East did a wonderful job bringing this book to life.

* I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
