About this listen
In my world, love comes with a rulebook.
Marry the right girl. From the right family. With the right last name.
I’m Jack Alden—the only son of the Alden dynasty. The kind of New York family that’s been around since ships were made of wood and fortunes were built on steel.
My mother’s been trying to find me a “suitable” wife for years.
So naturally, I fall for a woman who couldn’t care less about any of it. Iris Wilde.
I first saw her at the New York City Ballet—crying in the stalls like the music had cracked her open. She didn’t know who I was. She wasn’t performing for anyone. She was just… real.
One night with her, and I remembered what it felt like to actually breathe.
Then she disappeared.
Months later, I find her again—on a fruit farm in the middle of Colorado, hurling raspberries at me like she’s auditioning for a food fight. Turns out, Iris is smart, stubborn, and not remotely impressed by a billionaire with a trust fund and an overbearing mother.
She makes me laugh.
She makes me think.
And for the first time in my life, I want something that isn’t written in my family’s history books.
But old money comes with old rules.
And loving Iris means breaking every single one.
They say you can’t choose where you come from.
Maybe not.
But you can choose who you fight for.
And this time, I’m choosing her. Because when it comes to Iris Wilde—I don’t just love.
I love hard.

Jack comes from an affluent family and knows that his family expects him to assume his father’s responsibilities and marry a woman in this social circle even if it doesn’t include love. When he meets Iris he can’t imagine a future without her however he is torn between loyalty to his family and his love for her.
Jack and Iris take us on a heartwarming journey that is filled with emotion, romance and a little angst as they fight to be together. These two narrators never disappoint as Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke bring all the feels including the deep love they have for each other.

Jack is a New York city guy with a huge amount of family pressure on his shoulders, while Iris is a grounded girl who isn't easily impressed by wealth.
They meet at the ballet and there is an instant connection. Jack falls for Iris instantly, there is no slow burn, he falls hard and falls fast. Iris feels the connection, but is much more practical about their differences and how it could or couldn't work long term.
Although their lives are vastly different, I loved that they had a connection because they are both living under the expectations of family pressure, neither living the life they chose.
These two have so much chemistry, and while Jack does all of the chasing and makes the commitment for them to spend time together, Iris falls hard for Jack too. They have plenty of banter and their connection feels so natural. Their story is both steamy and sweet. Jack was just the sweetest guy and would do almost anything to be with Iris.
I was hooked on their story.... how could they possible make it work when they have such differences and expectations for the future. Jack's mother was a piece of work, and I don't think she redeemed herself, even more so after her 'confession', she should have known better!
I loved seeing characters from the other books, seeing how their relationships are progressing.
I loved the narrators for this story, they did a perfect job on bringing the characters to life. I really did get totally pulled into the story when listening to them. I would absolutely listen to Samantha Brentmore and Shane East again they are amazing narrators.
As the title says, he falls hard
