Story
Steve doesn’t care who he was. He knows more than enough to realize it doesn’t matter at all. Now living in what had once been the Creeplands and maintaining a thriving farm there, they are under constant siege from the Creep itself. It's still better than life in Lamals. And that’s just how it is. After taking over the Citadel, removing Lynn from her place of power, stopping the Creep’s advance, and starting to take over part of the Creeplands, he was certainly making a difference for himself, humans, and men everywhere.

Story
The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the Native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon came ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There went the good old days, when humans got killed only by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Story
Warner spent his days like almost anyone else. He got up, went to work, answered phone calls in a call center, went home, spent time with his daughter, and went to sleep. Only to repeat the pattern over and over and over. Life was as mundane as anyone could ever fear it to be. Today was the day that all that would change. On this day, his daughter Maya would be nearly fatally injured, plunging Warner into a world of paranormal creatures, monsters, and magic he’d never known existed. The only consolation is that he discovers he’s not quite human, either.

Story
Sebastian Frost’s most recent memory was waking up in a field naked, in a body that wasn’t his own, in a world that definitely wasn’t his own, and three stunning pointy-eared women staring right at him. He also remembered hair as white as starlight, eyes like amethysts, and the name Shalia. Fortunately, it was the right name to know. Shalia was the elves’ goddess, and that made him her herald.

Summary
The deadliest unpaid intern in the galaxy
Some people struggle to get to college. Tanner Malone had to fight through an interstellar war. Far from home, under a cloud of scandal and propaganda, hunted by assassins and haunted by trauma, Tanner is finally enrolled in a top university.
He didn’t plan for an archaeological expedition on the far side of human space. He didn’t want more corporate mercenaries or space pirates in his life, either. Yet ancient alien secrets don’t come without cost. If his classmates want to survive the summer, their infamous intern is the only chance they’ve got.

Wow, one of the best in the series.
(AKA Die Hard in Space)
I love:
The witty, clean dialogue, the personalities and humour of the characters.
How the universe keeps expanding. All the world building details hinted at are now starting to take center stage
The treatment of PTSD, how these experiences have impacted on the characters throughout the series
The narration, clear differences between characters, even female, with Tanners snark, spite and cynicism dripping from every line.
The only negative is that it might be worth reading/listening to all 4 of the other books in this series before this one, even 4, which doesn't really feature Tanner and is weaker for it, or else you'll have no idea what's going on.
Otherwise, it's a must listen to guys.

fresh adventure
the previous 3 books feel like a trilogy. this is a fresh adventure but with the same MC getting dragged into an escalating train of bullshit. while also expanding the story and universe setting the stage for larger conflicts in the future. very much like scifi indiana Jones book.

very satisfactory
very solid writing and performance. It is a continued delight to experience this series. Humour, intrigue, action, realistic and interesting character development, and a properly paced development of the plot with enough twists to keep you guessing at where Tanner's shenanigans will take him next. A good story. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in this.

A Really Great Read!
Possibly the best book in the series thus far. There was real depth in key issues and character development. Excellent story and plot evolution. Plenty of good action. I laughed, cried, bit my nails in anticipation and simply could not put it down. The first three books were all great, book four was different and a little weak, and book five is very strong.

Brilliant as always.
This is one of my top series for a reason. The protagonist is relatable, not stupid, not a jerk, not all knowing. He's a real guy dealing with real stuff. After what he has been through, working through PTSD and still managing to be a decent guy to people who have no idea what he has gone through. Can't wait for the next one.

Structure Fires and International Crisis
This is, in my opinion, the best book of the series. Specifically because of its treatment of PTSD and Tanner's more acerbic personality (which seems to have grown over the series).
This is also much better as audiobook then a book.
