At first it was a little confusing, it starts with to protagonist already in place, and builds from there. It doesn't go into his back story too much which is my only real gripe (this could be covered in future books though). Overall really good, brutal, smart protagonist who isn't totally over powered, it's very fast moving and all the side characters are fantastic. Cannot wait for the next book!

good stuff cant wait for book two. only problem i had was with the iron blooded gift, 8% damage is nothing at that level and in that one fight it made a huge boost to his overall combat power?

Writing this after the 2nd book and wow, I can't recommend it enough. Both the story and narration are superb, bringing the world alive and really letting you feel for the characters.

it's gritty, serious, but also filled with warm moments of comradeship which I've come to love.

So, if you were a fan of A Soldier's Life or if this could end up as your first audiobook, I can almost guarantee it'll be worth the credit.
