Summary

Into Darkness is the fifth episode in Terry Goodkind's new serial novel, The Children of D'Hara. Told in irresistibly intense installments, this is the story of a world confronted by an apocalyptic nightmare.

The insatiable hunger of Golden Goddess....

The irresistible power of a Witch's Oath....

A fracture in the world of life....

An opening in the world of death....

Richard Rahl and Kahlan Amnell face the perfect storm.

"The Sword of Truth series was my masterwork. Yet, life for these characters goes on after the conclusion of that series. For years readers have been asking about Richard and Kahlan's children. This is that story." (Terry Goodkind)

In 1994 Wizard's First Rule introduced Richard Cypher, a young woodsman seeking answers and vengeance in the aftermath of his father's murder, and Kahlan Amnell, a mysterious young woman pursued by a bloodthirsty tyrant's assassins. The Sword of Truth is one of the most ambitious fantasy series ever written. It was a decades-long masterwork that has been translated into 20 languages and sold 26 million copies.

After 16 volumes and one novella, it concluded in 2016 with Warheart. The Children of D'Hara picks up immediately after the conclusion of the Sword of Truth series. The story will be told in installments, as novella-length episodes published every three months. Into Darkness is the fifth novella.

Another great story.

Worth the wait. If you consider the Children of D'hara series in totality I'd say it's in the top 5 of all Mr. Goodkind's work. There's still questions left unanswered but I'm hoping that means there's going to be more to the story.

Terry knocked this conclusions out of the park

Absolutely loved this book. Actually the entire series was fantastic pre am hoping that Terry will continue on with the story of the children of D'hara. Would also love to see if Terry could tie in to the story of the laws of 9. Looking forward to the future of this series

Captivating

This is the first book by Terry Goodkind that I have thourougly enjoyed, and was not disappointed by in a long time. I gave up on him after the Confessors book. I listened to this with hopes that it’d be up to the standards of the Sword of Truth series. I’ll have to go back and listen to the prior books in this series.

Writing became worse throughout the series

Why did the books in the series get longer and longer. First book was 150 pages and this one is 400 pages long. Worse, it didn't need to be 400 pages long if the book had proper editing and writing. The important parts of the book including the showdowns with the witch and then the goddess were done away with swiftly and the rest of the story was just rambling with awful dialogues between the characters (why do they always not explain what they have in mind. ) Overall, the storyline of the series was a decent premise, and could have all been done in a single 300-400 page novel.

Another excellent book!

This book had plenty of action and emotional stakes, basically everything I love about Goodkind books, but there was more this time. And the "more" was new, refreshing and fun to read. I definitely recommend this book!

I want more!!!

Loved this book just like all the Richard and Kahlan stories. Love that this was a bit longer than the others in this series. Made my vacation drive bearable listening to this story. Made me sad when we arrived at our destination and I had to shut it off. Definitely a great listen or read!! I love Terry Goodkind's writing.
