Summary

If you're looking for a pause-resisting listen, don't miss this action-packed Amazon best-selling romantic suspense novel.

The day my life took an inevitable detour things got a little crazy.

My name is Essalin Brant, but everyone calls me Essa. I attend a small college in a tiny town, and in my 22 years of life I've never even traveled outside the state of Pennsylvania. You could say my life is pretty boring. I live by the rules. I'm a good girl and nothing exciting ever happens.

But that's all about to change.

Enter Farren Shaw. Not only is he older and intimidating, but he's more sure of himself than any 29-year-old man has a right to be. Did I mention that he's drop-dead gorgeous? Well, he is. He also happens to be my best friend Haven's brother. And I would be content with just fantasizing about Farren from afar, but when Haven suddenly goes missing, her gorgeous brother is the only one who believes me when I say she was abducted, even though all signs seem to suggest Haven left town willingly.

I know better, though. As does Farren. So when he asks me to accompany him to search for his sister, I accept.

That's when the real adventure begins.

Our quest to find Haven takes us across the country. And throughout the time we spend together, I find myself falling for Farren...falling hard. He's everything I've ever wanted. But is he really someone I should fear?

Because aside from making me feel things I've never felt before, Farren is hiding something. Something big. What could this stunning man be keeping from me? And why? Is Haven's disappearance somehow connected to his mysterious job?

All I know is that things are about to get real.

Welcome to the Inevitable Detour that has become my life.

New adult/romantic suspense.

Book one of the Inevitability duology.

Fate is inevitable...

Essa and her best friend had a fun night to celebrate until her friend disappears and said friend’s hot brother comes to the rescue. Nerdy and a bit controlled by her parents, Essa leaves it all behind in search for her friend and finds freedom and love on the way. The romance with Ferran, older, mysterious and rich, is sweet and also very hot, while in pursuit of a dangerous group of criminals and trying to save her bff life. Life as Essa knows it will not be the same afterwards. The narrator Keira does a great job with all characters.

Romantic suspense at its best!

SR Grey continues to impress me with her amazing talents. With her incredible sports romances, we fall in love with the many different men and enjoy the camaraderie of the teams. But I have to say her romantic suspense is some of my favorite that I have listened to! This first book in the Inevitibilty series is full of twist and turns, makes you think, questions who you should trust and makes you fall for the hero! How can you resist a book like that? We meet Essalin Brant, who's roommate is kidnapped after the two meet some men in a bar. When Farren, her roommate's brother shows up looking for her, we are now on a chase for her life, and Essa is going along for the ride. There is an attraction between the two, a slow burning chemistry just waiting to explode. But first things first. We get to chase and investigate, remain under the wire and wonder if our allegiance is in the right place. We fall into a passionate love with a special forces trained military man and completely lose ourselves in the inevitable detour their life takes. It is fast paced, thrilling and steamy.

Keira Steven enhances this thriller with her amazing narration. She brings voices in that are distinctly the personality of each character and keeps us motivated and engaged. I loved her performance and am anxiously awaiting the second book in the series!

Great Detour!

S.R. Grey has started the Inevitability Series with a fantastic start in Inevitable Detour. I loved how she brought Essa and Farren together and the twists in this book. Romantic Suspense is my favorite genre, and this book fits perfectly. Keira Stevens added so much to my enjoyment of the book. I could hear the various characters and she added the right emotions.

Interesting premise with very weak female

Firstly, I thought Keira Stevens did a good job with the narration. In general, she told the story well, with good pacing and emotion, and she was easy to listen to.

While the premise of the story was interesting, I couldn't get over how weak the female character was. The premise is that Essa's friend disappeared after they went out one night. Her friend's brother comes to try to find her and he has many enemies so the search for her was dangerous. Essa is so attracted to him that at any moment, she completely forgets about her friend's disappearance, the danger and everything else in order to get it on with Farren. After happening multiple times, I just shook my head. My preference is to have a stronger female character and slightly more realistic mindsets.

I've read other books by this author and most of the time, have enjoyed the books. So, this is a detour for me as well! :)

I requested and received this audiobook and this is my unbiased review.

Nnoooo there is A cliffhanger!!!!

I really don’t want to like this book because I hate books with cliffhangers.:.: But I do like this book. It was a good book with drama, love and cruel characters. And narration by Keira Stevens is phenomenal. She was sooo good that I have to look for more books narrated by her. She is the reason this book gets 5stars.
Now I guess I have to wait until 2. Book get to be on audio. That’s why I hate cliffhangers

Sweet and Suspenseful Romance!

This is a suspenseful, yet sweet love story. After a night of partying and questionable decisions, Essa wakes up to find her roommate and best friend, Haven, is missing. When the authorities don't believe her, she turns to Haven's sexy, older brother, Farren, for help. They embark on a road trip following the clues left behind. Essa has lead a sheltered life, never following her own dreams, so this roadtrip is a turning point in her life where she grows stronger and more confident. She and Farren work together to find Haven and as they do, their attraction becomes undeniable. But Farren, who can be so sweet, has a mysterious past that includes special ops. He has so many secrets that could be putting both their lives in danger. I loved the way this gripping story unfolded. It is a sweet love story between two intriguing characters and a suspenseful journey with twists and turns that keep you guessing who to trust and what might happen next. This is my first listen to narrator, Keira Stevens. She has a soothing voice that is perfect for the romance as she sets the stage for the impending action and suspense. This is a great start to this Inevitability series and I am excited for the next book!

Wanted to like it

I really wanted to like this book. Unfortunately I found the exchanges between the two main characters immature for adults and the main woman character to be incredibly naive. Some of the exchanges felt like high school/ middle school. The narrator did a good job but I got through a couple hours and I couldn’t take the confusion of the story line/ plot or the character’s total disregard that their loved one is missing but yet the main woman character is more concerned with what the male character does and if they are going to have a romp in the sack. I couldn’t finish the book and I hate doing that. This is a good author but for whatever reason I couldn’t get into this story.

Suspenseful and intriguing

I listened to this book on audio and was invested right from the start, The narrator Keira Stevens is new to me and she did a good job although at times I felt her male voices let the story down a little, although however having said that it was still an enjoyable listen.

This was a a book filled with danger, secrets, lies and surprises. The intrigue and suspense, not to mention the danger kept me on the edge of my seat as I listened to this story.

Will the danger and secrets rip Farren Shaw and Essalin Brant apart? Will they be able to put the pieces of the puzzle together whilst flying under the radar or will danger loom and put their lives and those they around them in jeopardy again?

There are many twists, turns and surprises in Inevitable Detour as Farren and Essa follow the clues and I have to say that I was taken by surprise on a couple of occasions.
