Audiobook Review:
Narrated by Joe Arden & Michelle Sparks.
Loved how sassy Michelle was exactly like Shea was. Joe did well with the accent and giving the possessive yet patient Trace was. It was a great audio and very entertaining.
Gah, this was the last book in this series. I love these brutal Irish Mafias. This is Reverse Age Gap, Best Friend's Sister, Off Limits and Bodyguard/Client Tropes.
This one was the Princess of the family, Shea. Only sister amongst them. We meet her in all the other books in this series and previous series too. I was a bit shocked, as in them she comes across as very confident and smart.
But in her story she doesn't make too many good choices. I suppose her predicament has lead her to believe less of herself and to think it's OK to wait for a man to divorce his wife (Man is separated from wife). Wish someone told her there are so many other options. This is why I was confused as she should have been much smarter. But in her career she is boss lady and is very good at it. I do love that side. She is sassy, strong and curvy. She thought she needed to blend in the background until her husband makes her believe otherwise.
Trace (Swooning 😍), he is a Quinlan and is good friends with the O'Rourkes. He has always had a crush on Shea since he was a teen. But living across the sea he had managed it until he meets her at Las Vegas.
They both have so much chemistry but she can't enforce her misfortune on him. When she finds out her boyfriend is cheating on her with his estranged wife, Shea decides to celebrate.
This leads to them being married and in bed next day.
Trace has an emergency at work and has to leave immediately, which take him away for 3 years!!!!
But he comes back as her bodyguard and ready to claim his wife. I loved how loyal he was and stayed celibate for her. Unfortunately, Shea made another bad choice and went back to her cheating boyfriend. 🤦🏽♀️.
I absolutely loved how much strength he shows in restraining himself from claiming her. He wins her over slowly bit by bit. He is a charmer alright.
Only problem is winning her is one thing, now to keep her ex away, survive her brother's wrath and foil her arranged marriage!!! To say the world is against them is an understatement. Oh to top it off his enemy turns up to destroy what belongs to him. Trace is very possessive, protective, nurturing and loves fiercely.
There was so much action, drama, ruthless acts, betrayal, family, secrets, twists, shocks, loyalty, above all love. As always the spice is always top-notch stuff.
I will say check triggers as there is subject about hysterectomy and not being able to have babies. This was quite hard for me as I could relate to all her emotions regarding the surgery. It's a hard choice to make but she has the best husband anyone could have.
I'm intrigued about Connor her brother. Will he get the chance to redeem himself and have HEA?

I am in love with this series. Deborah Garland knows how to write just the right amount of romance with suspense and it's quenches my thirst for my favorite trope! Meet Shea-Lynne and Trace. From rival families, the two find themselves drunk and married in Vegas on night. Now it's three years later and their paths are crossing again. And Trace isn't going to give her up, but Shea has just left another man, and he too isn't ready to give her up. This is a push pull relationship that is steamy and argumentative. I love how they learn what and who is important. Trace is an alpha male, and as the suspense builds he proves his love. Shea is a tough one. Very strong and very vulnerable, she is the mafia princess but she realizes what is truly the value of love and loyalty. I loved this one and think it's a great installment to the series.
Michelle Sparks and Joe Arden are the narrators and they are fabulous together. Sparks plays the tough Shea to a "t". It's easy to feel her conflict and just when she resolves it. Arden is Trace, smooth and dangerous, he comes through as a teddy bear with a dangerous edge. Loved them!

🎧📚🎧 Michelle Sparks and Joe Arden were amazing at voicing the characters and performing an accurate portrayal of each. I loved how they owned their roles, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound, accents and all. Arden’s Irish is a treat to the ears and so was his take on Trace’s role, showcasing all sides of his personality and demeanor perfectly, from his possessive alpha, touch her and die, to his caring and loving side with Shea. Sparks was just as fabulous in Shea’s role, also showcasing her personality perfectly, from her insecurities to her strength and determination, also nailing her feisty wit. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the secondary characters too. Their tone and pacing were just right for the story and they captured all the characters’ emotions, having you feel them all. These versatile voice artists are passionate and entertaining storytellers who keep you glued to the story from start to end.
