Summary

Grier Woolworth spends her nights weaving spooky tales of lost souls and tragedies for tourists on the streets of downtown Savannah. Hoop skirt and parasol aside, it's not a bad gig. The pay is crap, but the tips keep the lights on in her personal haunted mansion and her pantry stocked with ramen.

Life is about as normal as it gets for an ex-necromancer hiding among humans - until the society that excommunicated Grier offers her a second chance at being more than ordinary. Too bad no one warned her the trouble with being extraordinary is it can get you killed.

Contains mature themes.

Book One-- How to save an Undead Life-- Author Hailey Edwards & Narrator Rebecca Mitchell

I immensely enjoyed the storyline of this audiobook, it was extremely intriguing, entertaining, engaging, sensual, emotional & will they- won't they between the fantastic characters. I thought that Rebecca Mitchell has a very beautiful, soothingly atmospheric voice which would be perfect for ASMR/Sleep Therapy stories but her narrative for this book (in my opinion, & apologies to Rebecca Mitchell 🙏🏼) was extremely off-putting as I was continually pulled out of the storyline & confused by what characters were talking & had to keep replaying/repeating several chapters, to listen to the actual story after identifying the characters first. This was extremely unfortunate as I found the storyline (my first by Hailey Edwards) to be fantastic 😍 & would make me consider picking up her actual, physical books 📚📖 of this series, but until then bring on Book 2 on audible audiobook. 😂😍❤️

Ruined by narrator

I listened to this book on audio, So my experience is different from the other readers. The book was ruined by a narrator whose character voice was shouting and read every sentence with heightened urgency. It was supposed to be a fun paranormal romp. but I had to adjust the volume up and down constantly. I had to listen to some sections twice to try to understand what was happening and why are you shouting!

The story seems unique. I loved the zombie bird Keet Richards but wanted more of him. I felt confused with the unclarity as to "what" characters were, human, undead, vamp or something else. I think I understood who was a vamp, but the only real clarity was the house named Wooly was sentient. Too much male posturing, controlling and gay stereotyping. Plus lack of character descriptions! Apologies if I need more than eye colour and swirling colour description to keep the movie running in my mind while I read a book, Again there were gaps that I think would have made the story flow. I made it to the end.
