Story
Smart men never dabble with demons. I never claimed to be smart, but at least, I’m powerful enough to control them. When I bound Havoc to me nearly 300 years ago, I never realized how difficult he’d make my life, although “accidentally” lighting him on fire every now and then does bring a smile to my face. Havoc is handsome, mysterious, and somehow, my closest companion, even if we don’t always get along.

Story
Getting into the vampire-only detective unit was the easy part. What’s going to be more difficult is dealing with my new partner - an ancient vampire who keeps threatening to eat me. The unit has never had a human in it. Marcus - or, as I like to call him: Fangy McFangface - would really prefer to keep it that way. He’s grumpy, short-tempered, and broody, but I have a way with words, and I know he’s starting to like me, even if he swears he’s not.

Story
Being a hit man has its perks, but I never thought getting an accidental mooning by an attractive PI while he’s caught on a fence would be one of them. While it’s not exactly love at first sight, he’s captured my interest and won’t let go. Suddenly, I find myself caught in a game of cat and mouse, determined to attract the attention of Jackson, the PI who should be my enemy. He pretends like he’s not flattered by my flowers and the mentions of my totally-not-fictitious blow-up doll, Randy (or was it Dandy?), but I know better.

Between teaching classes at the university and working toward his PhD, he doesn’t need a partner to occupy his time, and he certainly doesn’t need a man like Alistair Drake complicating his future. Alistair Drake, black sheep of the tremendously wealthy Drake family, is more interested in adding another notch to his bedpost than another zero to his bank account.

I’m rather used to the crazy cases, because let’s face it, most cops can handle the run-of-the-mill with their eyes closed. I’m only called in when the situation is weird or they need to solve the case fast. This case is a little of both. Someone’s attacking women as they get off of work, hitting them in the back of the head. What started as a case of battery has steadily built up to homicide. With three murders, six victims, and no leads, the Clarksville PD is desperate to catch the assailant. But there’s no real leads for us to follow, either....

A psychic without an anchor. A student in trouble. A shooter on the loose. I’m Jonathan Bane, a licensed psychic who consults for the police. I routinely help the police put the bad guys away and, for that reason, the criminal world doesn’t like me much. My psychic ability prevents me from handling anything electronic - and I do mean anything, I fry it in seconds - so calling for help isn’t always a possibility. I need an anchor, a partner, but I’m resigned: It’s just wishful thinking. At least, I thought so until he walked through the door.

Summary
Finn
When the vampire stalking me sent me a letter, I was prepared for my new life with the man I love to get thrown into chaos. But as the days stretch on and nothing happens, I become determined not to allow that monster to rule my life and decide that Marcus and I will move on.
We can’t always allow the past to haunt us. If that includes pestering Marcus and harassing my fellow detectives, they’d better learn to love it because I’m not going anywhere, even if they like to remind me I’m the only human working in a department filled with vampires.
But Marcus loves me for who I am, even if he’s not crazy about the cute pet names I call him like McBitey. Being with him is more than I could have dreamed, and even with the trials thrown in our way, he never fails to make me smile.
Marcus
When Finn joined the VRC, I never expected how everything would change. Now that he’s the brightest part of my days, I’m unsure of how I existed without him. Before Finn and I can settle into our new life together, we’re called in as lead detectives when a body is found in the river, and the case soon hits closer to home than we anticipated.
I want to be by Finn’s side to keep him safe, but at the same time, Finn’s fighting for the freedom he’s always wanted after being forced to live a life of fear. What I do know is that my future is with Finn, no matter what happens.
How to Elude a Vampire is the second in the VRC series and contains a display of manly prowess that doesn't go as desired, reluctant bonding with a new pet, interfering with a snarky Russian's love life, misuse of office supplies, a vampire with a killer fashion sense but very little game, a total lack of ancient kung fu powers, a feisty human who almost always gets his way, and the possessive vampire who adores him.

Fantastic VRC Sequel
Finn and Marcus return to solve once and for all the mystery of who has been stalking Finn for years. It's a family affair as the couple are supported by Finn's father and sister, as well as their work family or Karsyn, Brookes, etc. We also get to meet Marcus's brother, Claude who is one of those characters you love to hate at times, but I think will ultimately win us over in the next book in the series. I thought the pacing was decent, with a good balance between the action sequences, the romance and the humour. It's lovely to see Marcus and Finn as an established couple in this book. They've lost none of their banter, but their bond and protective streaks have certainly grown. I'm delighted too, that Karsyn is as sarcastic as ever - he really makes me laugh and I'm looking forward to seeing what Ms Winters had in store for him. Michael Ferraiuolo has done another wonderful job of bringing these characters and the story to life...excellent narration.

amazing as always
It's review time 🎧 Warning ⚠️ : not a standalone, Vampire romance, mm romance. “Can your tiny little legs keep up?” Karsyn asks. Marcus waves at him like he’s going to defend me. “Shh, Karsyn. He doesn’t like it when you make fun of his speed. You’re like a cheetah, baby,” Marcus encourages. Narrator score🎧 ; Michael is amazing as always, i just adore his talent so very much. “Ah, makes sense, you’re so manly your eyes probably have no idea what tears are. Are they rejecting your body? Are they confused? Hurry up, Grandpa. Ooh, you know the whole Daddy thing? I don’t need a Daddy, I got a Grandpa.” Level of steam🔥: its not about s** at all, this book is all about banter and a full on story. And even when they are getting to it, its full of fun and bante, and I love it. “There is something wrong with this family and I love it!” Marcus says as he smacks his leg. Level of anxiety and sadness0😱😢: yes its a comedy. But somehow this author can bring you a serious story in to the comedy and she did it amazingly. "I do have a weakness for popcorn. Its better to coated blood instead butter." The book itself📖: Alice out done her self with this book. She brought us a great fantasy, with a wonderful detective story. I love that she keeps a united front with this story, they are a solid couple through it all. And I adore it. It was a wonderful book, I can't wait to the 3rd and 4th books on audible. 😍😍😍 because Michael in a Russian accent is the absolute best thing in the world.

Really sappy
I loved the first book even though it occasionally got sappy. This book overdosed on the sappy and cutesy. About midway through I would have been ok if Finn met a brutal, and I mean BRUTAL, end. I wish the author had went into more detail about the creation of vampires. I also hate they introduced a character just to kill him off....there is no emotional investment in his death. They used the word evil to the point of annoyance and everytime I heard it I was pulled out of the story with thoughts of Dr Evil and his pinky to his lips. Last, it would be nice to know why all the vampires love Finn (an annoying , manipulative jerk) and why he made the Doll Maker feel and Marcus (least original vamp name ever) is drawn to his blood. Michael Ferraiuolo is very talented and made the material tolerable.

Hilarious but not stupid funny. Laughed out loud.
I just can't explain how much I like this series and the perfect humor and the characters. Finn and Marcus are like oil and vinegar and taste so good together. Finn taunts Marcus and Marcus loves Finn for it. Loves him and understands him for who he is. And did I mention it was hilarious. Straight up, off the cuff hilarious. And no one narrates it better than Michael F. Perfect partnership. Ms. Winters, please, please, please give us another dose of Finn and Marcus.
