Summary

Not only is Jaxon a born alpha, he is also one by choice. Or, at least, he's about to be. His adoptive father wants to pass on leadership of the Timberwood Cove Pack to him, but Jaxon has reservations. Why? Because, this shifter wants his mate.

When Jaxon scents his fated mate at a local diner, he knows it’s only a matter of time before he claims the man. But their courtship is complicated. Even though Bryce is an omega, he has no idea shifters exist. What's more, he blames a wolf for the death of his sister and his current painful circumstances.

After causing an accident that left his sister dead and himself with chronic injuries, Bryce can’t screw up raising his nephew. Money is tight, and Bryce’s new disabilities make caring for a young boy even more difficult. When he meets Jaxon, the man is too good to be true - a caring alpha who coaches his nephew’s baseball team and looks at Bryce with heat and tenderness.

Will their rapidly growing family strike out? Or will they be a home run?

A really likeable story

I enjoyed reading the book and the narration was just as good!

I'm sure that the rest of the series will be just as good having read the other books.

as good as the ebook

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

it's like a B

Wonderful and emotional story

Loved the deep emotions in this book, especially the mating ceremony. Be careful tissues are needed

Awesome Start!💥

Liam Kingsley has Done it again. This is a great start to this new series. I absolutely enjoyed it. The storyline, characters, and writing. LK is one of the best authors out here, and I'm a huge fan of his work. Zachary Zaba also did a nice job with his narration of the characters. I look forward in listening to this complete series when it becomes available on audible. I highly recommend you check this series out. You will not be disappointed. I certainly wasn't.🙂

good series start

Would I listen to it again: yes
Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was I invested in the characters: yes
What did I like about the story? Has a good pace and likeable characters. There's some good world building and backstory that sets up for future instalments.

Jaxon, former baseball star and soon to be pack alpha, meets his fated mate the day Bryce literally falls into his arms. Bryce is raising his nephew after his twin sister is killed in the car accident that has left him with permanent injuries. Being human, Bryce is unaware wolf shifters exist and telling a human about the shifter world comes with huge responsibility, but Jaxon knows Bryce and Liam are his future.

I like that Liam plays a role in the story and isn't just a supporting character and I thought the mating ceremony and Bryce's changes were well written. I would have liked it to be a little longer with a more character development. But overall an interesting start to the series.

I enjoyed Zachary Zaba's narration and think he's done a good job on Homerun Daddy. I had no problem distinguishing characters or feeling the emotions of the story. I did think the narration was a little fast, but each character had their own voice so it wasn't too hard to follow.

Liam Kingsley hit out of the park on this book!

Jaxon, soon to be pack alpha when his father steps down, scents his fated mate in a diner after ball practice. Bryce doesn't know about fated mates or shifters. Bryce's sister died in a car wreck that he blames himself for. Now he is taking care of his nephew and trying to adopt him. Jaxon and Bryce have to find a way make everything turn out right. I loved the story line, characters, and narrator. Highly recommend this audio book!

Really good

I greatly enjoyed this story! I especially liked that the kid was present throughout the story, and not just mentioned from time to time.

The narration was also really good with nice voices that suited the characters.

Homerun indeed!

The whole story is terrific but I absolutely love the last part. The way Jax handles Bryce’s stress and his reaction to Jax being a shifter was amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and will most definitely listen to again.

First Homerun for a New Series

I fell in love with the book when the series first began. The audio version is a great beginning to the audio books.

There is both world building and back story in this first volume. It sets the characters up for their cameo appearances in future volumes.

The world of wolf shifters is one we'd all like to belong to: fierce, protective, caring. The entire pack relates well to one another, an extended family in love and deed.

It was a surprise when Alpha, the coach of a Little League team, finds his fated mate is a human with no knowledge of shifters. No matter how tight the pack is, informing a human comes with a lot of faith, and enormous responsibility.

The love of sports has long been a bonding tool, and that same tool was shamelessly used in this story. I loved it!

Narrator Zachary Zaba does a pretty good job of making the characters shine. He especially brings out the fire in Omega Bryce, the wounded love interest. I adore sassy omegas.

fated human mate

These two guys frustrated the life out of me! They knew they were attracted to each other and kept tip toeing around the final steps of commitment etc. I understand Bryce's reaction to Jaxon's truth. That was a deep emotional scar to get over!! The courtroom scene was moving when Jaxon made his declarations, and his dad too. Emotional overflow. I didn't agree with the baby's name, because her brother Liam would have to call her by his mom's name (or a version of it) and that felt creepy to me. I'm sure it was meant as a form of respect, but it feels so wrong. Great ending. The narrator did a great job with voices and expressions. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this story and am giving an honest review.
